Review of Birdfy

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Good Experiences in 2024 and 2025; would recommend!

I bought a Birdfy Bamboo in 2024 on my own and had an easy experience with setup and capturing photos/photos i my first year. I got it after trying (and returning) a Bird Buddy. I made sure to get the model with an included lifetime ID subscription. If you follow the company's instructions to take care of the wood it'll last! The original Birdfy camera in this feeder is like 'old reliable'. It just works and the battery lasts several days without help from a solar panel. I charge it overnight when needed.

I also started using a Birdfy Feeder 2 Pro in 2025 as part of a promotion/contest for their new livestream features. I love the improved camera quality on this new device. I wish the camera itself was a bit smaller and heavier duty, but it's still great for my needs. I've been using the livestream feature and it's not as stable as I'd like, but it works. It'd be even better if it could reliably stream 4K video. I like then portrait mode feature for photos, but find that I don't need it at all for videos.

I'm surprised to read the reviews bashing the Birdfy support team. I've had to engage with them several times and the experience was fine. In two cases my issues were resolved with replacement hardware in about 1.5 weeks. I've always engaged with support over email instead of phone.

Both of my feeders have been pulled down by black bears two or three times and survived. I also recently bought the Birdfy pole because it has multiple arms and a cute decoration on top. It's a nice way to use my Birdfy feeders and feeders from other brands all on one pole. I did have to replace the Birdfy baffle with a different brand, but overall I still like the pole better than any others I've tried.

I think price-wise Birdfy is aligned with the other similar brands of smart feeders, but can be really affordable during sales or through retail partners.

I don't mind that the Birdfy team is not based in the US. They are really open to feedback from their users and I've always gotten support replies within 24 hours. I am happy to be using their cool products and would look forward to trying more in the future as my setup and budget allow 📸🐦. There's also a really great community of folks in the US and Europe (maybe other locations, but that's what I've noticed) to share photos/videos, tips, troubleshooting, and ideas. The Birdy community team does a nice job keeping these channels active with engaging content, questions, calls for feedback, and contests/prizes.

There are lots of brand options with individual pros and cons and kinks to work out. After spending my own money on different brands of bird feeders and accessories I think Birdfy is a great choice (and not just because they gave me an additional feeder during a promotion). It's important to do you research on features, setup, and expectations to find the right fit for your needs.
