Love the shoes, but worried about longevity
Since first opening the package, I absolutely loved the derby shoes I ordered. Aesthetically and in terms of comfort, they're perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, when I wore them for just a couple of hours, I noticed that bits of the rubber sole kept coming off (like the stringy pieces that come off of an eraser). I am not sure whether I received a defective pair, but I am now worried that they won't hold up well or look presentable for work, which is why I had purchased them.

Derby's soles being made of rubber, a natural material, it is not uncommon for them to wear out more quickly during use compared to a standard leather or plastic sole.
The wearing down of rubber soles is entirely normal and inevitable since they come into direct contact with the ground with each step you take.
