Review of Clayton Homes

Poor Craftsmanship and No Accountability

I am extremely dissatisfied with the quality of Clayton Homes’ craftsmanship in Northern AZ. From the very beginning, it was clear that subpar materials and careless work were the standard, not the exception.

There were misalignments everywhere, broken exterior sashes, and trim along the modular joint already popping up in several locations. Doors were misaligned, latches didn’t function properly, and the bathrooms weren’t sealed correctly, creating cracks and leaving me concerned about future water damage. The same issues appeared around window frames, where poor sealing will inevitably cause cracking and water intrusion.

Additional problems included a hose spigot that wasn’t properly secured and a dryer vent with a massive gap due to sloppy installation,“fixed” by smothering it in caulk rather than cutting and fitting materials correctly.

Even worse than the poor construction was Clayton’s lack of accountability. Despite reporting these issues, they failed to honor their warranty. They repeatedly claimed technicians were scheduled, only to reschedule over and over until the warranty period expired—then stopped responding altogether. This is deceptive and unacceptable.

Overall, Clayton Homes’ workmanship and customer service have been deeply disappointing. I would strongly caution others to think twice before investing in one of their homes.

I've been seeing this terrible craftsmanship from clayton since 2020 finally got around to writing it up in a review

I was mislead and was charged a fee

I was mislead into believing I would only be charged a fee when I made a transaction however I discovered today that I am being charged a monthly PCI compliance fee that they never said would be charged. Having dealt with other processors this fee has never been passed onto the merchant directly. However Fortis has been charging me $45/month for not being "in compliance".

You have to explain to people what you are charging them for before you begin charging them.

They then pass me off to a PCI specialist that had no information about my case so all he could do is regurgitate what PCI is, and try to scare me into believing if ever there was a breach of data I would be personally responsible for. Considering I have an LLC and business insurance it was really unprofessional of him to utilize fear monger tactics.

Response to Fortis reply.
Square, Stripe, and PayPal do not charge a PCI compliance fee. you could have mentioned that there would be a reoccurring charge during the sign up.
I want to add that I don't need to be PCI compliant, Fortis does as they are the ones handling and storing card information for transactions.
Cards are not handled or stored by us.

Fortis seems to be scamming small businesses by suggesting they need this if they're using Fortis POS app

Stay away from MPA

I purchased a DS series $3,500 pistol from them in February of 2024 and placed a deposit of 20% there was a six to eight week lead time on the item. After 3 months I began to contact them and they would not answer calls, respond to emails or voicemails, or return text messages. After 6 months we were finally able to get through to someone who said the firearm was still being manufactured, we finally got a notification that they were ready to receive payment around November. After trying to contact them to pay for the item they finally responded mid December and we were able to complete the transaction. After receiving the pistol it was less than acceptable. Cut lines that weren't straight, areas where the machine ran dry or the person doing stippling stopped paying attention for a moment. For a $3,500 gun I am less than impressed with the craftsmanship. I am a carpenter, mechanical technician, vibration analyst, & machinist by trade.

The worst part is this is the last place I used my card and now my cards information was compromised which leads me to believe this company is skimming card information or they have someone working for them that is.
Do yourself a favor and steer clear. There are tons of custom pistol manufacturers that will actually try to meet their deadlines and not dodge you or make excuses why they couldn't deliver.

Contacted me over a job they had posted…

Contacted me over a job they had posted that I replied to.
The woman was nice however the conversation was a waste of time and great example of how these companies have convoluted the hiring process.
First she didn't have payrate information for the location I had applied to. Then when I found it and told her the minimum I would accept she began to back peddle and suggest I could go back onto their site and apply for another role.
Why would I need to do that if I'm currently speaking to a recruiter?
Why contact someone and not have critical details you know someone would need to make an educated decision?
If you want someone that knows what they're talking about you're gonna have to pay more than 15$/hr in any location in America.
If you want kids that are going to push the pavement and not generate any leads because homeowners don't trust them then you get what you pay for.

I hope you get people involved in the hiring process that have some logic.
The lady really was an angel though.
