Spirit Airlines directs passengers to a fraudulent immigration website scam when flying to Colombia, that collects your passport info and charges you for free services. I was sure it had to be legit because the airline was directing me to it as part of check in, guess I learned my lesson. Flyer beware.

I live in the U.S. I got SafetyWing Nomad Insurance for myself and my partner for a trip to Mexico. Unfortunately while we were there my partner's father passed. We had to change our flights to return immediately. I filed the claim for Trip Interruption with WorldTrips who handles claims for SafetyWing. I called for help with the filing and did not have a long wait time and the person was helpful. I did have some trouble with initially trying to file the claim through the SafetyWing website and then had to switch over and make an account on the WorldTrips website. I couldn't upload documents to go with my claim until a couple days later, but they emailed me with the list of documents they needed and then I was able to. I was surprised that they paid the claim promptly with no back and forth. I've honestly never filed a claim on travel insurance before and based on other reviews I thought I would have to fight them and appeal. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and the process was simple enough and the times I reached out for help to SafetyWing or WorldTrips they were responsive and helpful. It's been a pretty hard time obviously so the fact that this was easier than it could have been is a relief. I also read the whole policy before purchasing and read the applicable section before filing the claim to make sure that I could file and that I had the documentation needed. Would recommend SafetyWing Nomad Insurance to others! Just be sure it covers your needs before buying and that you have all the documentation before filing.
