Disappointed my order was not delivered late…

Delivery date on the order form clearly stated by 31Jan-2 Feb not an estimated date) so I placed my order on 26/1, paying a £25 delivery charge on top of £167 for a bottle of Beluga vodka as a birthday gift for a friend on 5 Feb. It didn’t turn up on time, and the delivery company online tracking number showed they hadn’t even received it, which meant I could not give it to my friend at his birthday party. I sent spirits.co.uk a chasing email and received a prompt and polite reply saying the package was going through customs clearance and therefore it was out of their hands. It arrived on the evening of 6 Feb. On the order form it was not made clear that spirits.co.uk would be shipping from overseas and I would not have ordered from them had I known this. I don’t believe it is good practice to give customers a firm ‘delivery by’ date if it cannot be honoured.
