A project that worked out better than I hoped

Lathams seem to get a lot of things right. I rarely leave reviews, but they impressed me and deserve a good word.
I bought a mid range steel security door from them. It's a beast. Impressively solid door and frame. Good fittings. Nice powder coat finish.
Online videos are good so that I could understand how it fitted and what measurements mattered.
On the phone, Georgia was great. A nice sense of humour, knows her stuff, answered all my questions, configured and priced the kit for me. Easy !
Lathams made collection easy too the next morning. Everything ex stock, straight into the van and we got it installed that afternoon. It's 80+kg so much easier to move and fit with two of you.
I needed side extensions and a top filler piece to fit the gap but these and the screw side adjusters make it easy to square up the frame. It was true to size and it looks and works great.
So yes. I think I just bought a good product from a good company.

Internet equivalent of that taxi tout…

Internet equivalent of that taxi tout trying to hustle you when you walk out of the airport after arriving on holiday. They just want their cut, and the chance to sell you more stuff.
I swore at them 3 times before I'd finished booking my parcel in.
Amateurs.

This company is an utter car crash

This company is an utter car crash. Stay away.
I switched to VM when they installed fibre to the home in my neighborhood. I wish I hadn't.
It's not the almost 24hr outage(s) it's the automated systems that front their customer service with no option to access a human being. Multiple tries always ending in the computer hanging up and only sending me a link to download an app that doesn't work !
Going to the "thinking of leaving us" was the only place where I found an announcement saying their services are in a mess nationwide. I'll be keeping records from here on to pursue early termination and go back to my old provider.


Edit - meaningless canned response. I'd love to be able to speak to a member of staff at my convenience instead of wasting 2 hours and having to game their system to reach a human. In a real Top 100 company, if a customer call wasn't answered by a person inside 3 rings then sales and marketing management got dragged in and carpeted by the directors. Amateurs !

Quick to take your money, but not to refund it. Avoid.

I bought a NEFF cooker hood from Marks, quickly delivered but defective from the box. Marks strongly push buyers towards the manufacturer for aftersales issues but even having sent them a manufacturers service engineer report confirming the defect they are stalling over the refund and pickup of goods. Paypal claim and small claims next. It turns out my friends had similar difficulties....
