Review of Make Waves

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Make who? Ah - yes. That rather good eco-deodorant you’re wearing.

So far, so good. I’ve used other “eco” deodorants before (“wild” if you’re asking) and they just didn’t do anything for me. This one seems a bit more like it - as in it actually works as well as a regular deodorant.
I mean, it’s deodorant, right? I’m not going to get super-excited about it. The scent is ok - a bit on the mild side, but better that than reeking like I’ve sprayed myself top-to-toe in Lynx “Africa”.

I get that new “challenger brands” have to go hell for leather to get engagement - but it’s perhaps telling that when their 2nd email came begging me to leave a review on here I was sort of nonplussed for a while - “make waves?” Who are they? - so perhaps the name and brand isn’t doing it as well as their product, which is unfortunate - as their product is really rather good.

Review of BoilerJuice.com

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Fabulous service, fabulous price

I have family that work for one of the large heating oil companies, so I got a "friends and family reduction" - this price per litre was higher than the highest price listed at BoilerJuice (ironically including the very same big company!) and I typically had to wait 2 weeks for delivery - With boilerJuice I typically get my order within a couple of days at a fraction of the price - what's not to love? I've recently signed up to their tank level monitoring service where they bill you a fixed amount per month and a device on top of the tank lets them know automatically when to deliver - the pricing for this is spot on and I never have to worry about fiddling with dip-sticks again.

Review of Flightcatchers

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Review update: 2 months on and still no refund *AVOID AVOID*

Just updating my previous review. Further down the refund journey and the experience gets poorer and poorer. Emails from the company saying "4-6 week wait" followed by "Your refund has been processed - expect 7-10 working days to process" - this all *SOUNDS LIKE* informative (if slow) customer service - but these are just empty words - nothing materialises and when you follow it up on the phone nobody replies - always "this person is busy, they will call you back" - and then they don't.

1. I have no idea *how much* my refund is going to be - this is mad. The airline will know this, so will flightcatchers as they have already received it, so why haven't they informed me? It's bad enough knowing that I'll be receiving at best 20-30% of the £1400-odd I spent on tickets, but to not even know how much, never mind when it's going to arrive (if ever) adds insult to injury.
2. I have had no reference number for my refund from the airline at all - so I can't double check with them whether flightcatchers are spinning me a line (which it increasingly seems like they are)

Also please ignore any reply to this review with a "please contact us at customercare@flightcatchers" catch-all response. This review is of that very customer care email process. A process during the processing of which FlightCatchers have already, themselves informed me that they have received my refund. This is *not* a company with good customer service - it's paying lip-service to that whilst actually being the very opposite.

*AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE*

Rock-bottom prices = Rock-bottom customer support

Flightcatchers are obviously focused on one thing - providing a low headline price in price comparison sites like Sky scanner. In order to do that they cut absolutely everything else back to the bone. The flight you buy may be awkward, arrive in the middle of the night, be rescheduled multiple times, requiring you to reply with an email every time. You’ll have to pay up front and have little-to-no recompense if something goes wrong. If you need to change any aspect of the booking expect to pay through the nose - in order to change our Etihad return flight from one airport to another we were going to be charged £400 each. When we eventually decided to cancel we received only £200 back after spending over £1300 despite cancelling months ahead of the flight. That £200 required 2 phone calls and 4 emails to arrange and We were informed would take 6-8 weeks to (so actually we’ve got no idea whether we’ll actually receive a refund at all) - all of this we were informed was “the fault of the airline” - but I can’t help but feel I’d have got better customer service if I’d been dealing with Etihad directly. Flightcatchers customer support staff are unfailingly polite but seem to specialise in obfuscating simple matters by talking at 200mph in jargon-heavy language that means you never really understand what they’re saying. They arbitrarily call in the middle of a Sunday demanding you reply to an email reconfirming an airline’s schedule change there and then. On the whole an unfailingly disappointing experience. The flights were cheap - yes, which is why they get two stars rather than one but everything else was awful. Only use this company if there is absolutely no chance your flight will change and a rock-bottom price is the only thing you care about. If you’re planning a holiday in advance *DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY* - things change and this company will fleece you when they do.

Dear Mr. Jones,

We sincerely apologise for the challenges you encountered with your booking and the inconvenience caused. We understand how frustrating flight cancellations, schedule changes, and refund processes can be, and we truly regret that your experience did not meet your expectations.

As a travel agent, we do our best to provide competitive prices, but we also aim to support our customers through unexpected changes or issues. We rely on the airlines for much of the decision-making regarding schedules and cancellations, and sometimes this can result in delays or complications that are beyond our control. We strive to improve our communication and after-sales service, and your feedback will help us do that.

If you'd like to discuss this matter further or need any additional assistance, please feel free to contact us at customercare@flighcatchers.com.

Review of elmo

Oh dear

Oh dear. Another victim of the bogus "defleeting" email. (my wife's 12 month old, 9000 mile Fiat 500) - no replacement available, 30 days notice, no explanation, no "thank you for your custom" - nothing.

Either Elmo is going the same was an On.to did or they're about to do a massive price hike or something... Either way they're burning any good will their loyal customer base has had (look at the reviews on here prior to this week and then compare them with the past few)

What a shame. Then again, this whole subscription model always did seem a bit "magic" - now we find out why - it was clearly built on sand.

Review of Donaghy Bros

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great price and delivery experience for people prepared to do the last bit themselves

I'd been looking for a specific range cooker for some time and Donaghy offered one of the cheapest prices out there for a company with a good trustpilot rating.

Having just moved home I still had my old address attached to a lot of my payment methods, so when I realised that I had made this mistake when purchasing the only remaining stock item I had to get in touch direct.

Donaghy's staff were great in solving the problem for me, arranging delivery on a specific day and leaving me satisfied I'd made the right decision.

The reason Donaghy were significantly cheaper than others is due to the fact that they simply ship a pallet to you - (if I remember correctly the oven was some £200 cheaper than elsewhere - installation was available but at a £200+ premium). The different types of delivery weren't very well explained as I recall- but there wasn't a means of having a heavy item brought in to the house unless I misunderstood completely.

The pallet delivery guy who delivered the cooker was great to give him credit - he wasn't obliged to bring the item up my (steep, gravel) drive but he got it as far as he could which was great.

If you're confident in installing the appliance yourself and don't mind lifting it into your own house (check how much it weighs first! My induction range cooker was 100kg which made it difficult) then Donaghy offer really competitive rates and great customer service.
