Damaged Monstera 'Burle Marx Flame' - Customer Service Zero

I placed my second order with this company for soil (which is outstanding) and another pricey plant as my first order was great. Sadly with this company when something goes wrong they do not deal with it in the same manner as their polished marketing!

In my second order 25958 including a Monstera 'Burle Marx Flame' the plant has two of its main stem snapped. This was not immediately apparent, it did not look quite right in the pot so I checked the roots as it was a present for my mother (a wish list plant), on removing it from the pot I see the two main stems had been completely snapped, so this much have been done prior to packaging, so disappointing.

I emailed the company as detailed on their website, clearly explaining the issue and sending SEVEN detailed images on the 27/3, chased them on the 2/4 to be told they had replied from a Kojo email, I have no record of this but it may have been treated as junk as this was not who I was expecting to hear from. I have now sent 5 emails, they have not replied or resolved the issue.

From first glance this company looks amazing, the website the marketing, I really felt comforted by this thinking if there was ever an issue it would be dealt with and placed this second order for an expensive plant, sadly their customer service does not match the marketing. Such a shame, I would use this company for substate as it is outstanding but for plants it is a no from me. It has been a week since this order arrived, I have chased them several times with no response.

I would also like to add that if the stems had snapped and were out in the air they would have callused over but they were not open to the air, they had been buried under the substrate. You are incorrect in this instance.

It has been a fight to get you to reply and correct the situation. I am very disappointed as all I have asked for is to return the plant for a refund, not keep it for free. I ordered a plant that was healthy without snapped stems, as shown on the website. I would not have paid £120 for two snapped stems.

As one of the management at Growtropicals, I'm disappointed to see your review. I've looked into this case as we pride ourselves on a high level of customer service and we don't ever want a customer to feel disappointed with the service they received.

On inspection of the images you provided the team were unable to see where the stem had 'snapped', what appeared to be visible were the petiolar sheaths. On BMF these are long lasting unlike other monstera where they dry up and dessicate.

To ensure we weren't missing anything, our team asked for additional clarification on the issue. Due to a problem with you recieving the emails, Jess our customer service representative tried a number of different emails we had to make sure you received the email including from our sister company.

However, aside from getting to the bottom of the issue, I understand you feel frustrated by this situation and in this instance we'd be more than happy to collect the plant and issue a full refund for you.

I've asked Jess to reach out again today to issue a refund and collect the plant. If you don't recieve that email shortly, please reach out to me directly at jacob@growtropicals.com

Great, hassle free way to get your medication delivered. I did have an issue once when the doctor sent an urgent prescription to them instead of our local pharmacy but it was sorted quickly when I called them, so helpful.

Great company

Great company, very reliable with stable hosting. We have been using them for over 10 years to host our website. It is not as easy as it used to be to contact them sadly, raising a ticket if you have an issue has been made very difficult and is frustrating.

Staff once you get contact with someone are super knowledgeable and always resolve the issue.

I think in the past this company was certainly underperforming but for the past year or so I have no complaints, they deliver on time and the tracking is acceptable. Unlike another large Royal company that consistently delivers late and the website has not be able to track items for months.

Royal Mail consistently under perform

Royal Mail consistently under perform, delivering just 82% on time (falling below the 93.0% target).

As a company selling small price items we have no choice but to use them and we regularly have 1st class take up to TWO WEEKS, yes you read right TWO WEEKS. Where do they put post for two weeks, why does it randomly take two weeks instead of 1-2 days? This company is a joke, my disappointment is so frustrating as it make our working model so difficult when they constantly let us down on delivery times.

If they are not on strike they are not delivering, disgrace.

Excellent company

Excellent company, I have used several times. I did have an issue with a smashed box with some items missing but it was dealt with swiftly, which is a real strength to any company.

If I could improve anything it would be their checkout, it would be good to have a basket that showed you how much more you need to spend for free shipping, as this is not shown on their website - not that I could see and I did search.

My absolute go to for soil, I highly recommend :)
