Why don’t they Communicate?
We were due to fly from Quito to Madrid and there was an aircraft problem. OK, so these things happen, ours was not a unique occurrence, but the way things were handled were as if no one had ever considered what to do in such a situation and formulated a procedure.
What was worst of all was Iberia’s lack of communication with its customers. Information at the airport was by means of a poor hapless employee who had the quietest of voices and seemed to have no idea as how to handle the situation. Now nearly 24 hours later we are stuck in a hotel with no information from Iberia as to how they are going to get us home; surely by now they have formulated a plan and have a replacement aeroplane on its way to us - who knows? Iberia must know at this point when the replacement plane is due to arrive and when it can be expected to take off, but they sure ain’t telling us.
