I live in Dubai
I live in Dubai, UAE. I am father to an autism child who is 12 years old. This year my company changed the health insurance provider from Cigna Neuron to GIG Axa. We were really happy to see that AXA covers a certain cost related to speech and OT therapies. However, it has been a month now and we haven't been able to get our claim approved. The center where my child goes, we pay them monthly for a certain number of therapies. After submitting all invoices with claim form signed and stamped by autism center, the AXA team is now asking for stamps of therapists who conducted the sessions. The center told us that their therapists don't have their own stamps. The AXA's schedule of inclusions never stated that even stamps of therapists are required. We pay around AED 50k to the center annually; and what we expect to get from AXA is mere 80% of AED 14k (which is annual limit for this benefit), which has been made painful for us. When we try to call customer service, the individuals only start reading the reasons of rejection without even litsening to us. Nobody is ready to understand that therapists are not doctors who must possess their own stamps, and if the autism center is registered with AXA and has duly signed and stamped the claim form and the paid invoices, this should be sufficient to approve claim. Autism is treated differently and therapies can be standalone sessions and also within center premises as per their own schedule.
The process with Cigna Neuron was way too smooth and I will raise my voice in my company not to go with AXA next year.
