Disappointed

I’ll start with the only positive point: the refund policy is real.
If you complete all modules and projects within one year from enrollment, and after 12 weeks of job searching you still don’t find a job, they do issue a refund.
I’ve finished the course without landing a job, but at least I’ve learned a bit more than when I started.

That said, the rest of the experience was honestly disappointing.

From the very beginning, the introductory courses on programming languages felt outdated and repetitive. They are repeated again in the second stage for no clear reason, it just seems like a way to waste time.
In the beginning, you get some minimal support from a tutor, but this quickly fades away as the course progresses.

During the second stage, which is the longest part, you study on an external platform, Codecademy. The amount of languages you’re asked to learn is huge and completely disproportionate to what you’ll actually use later. You go through all of these courses: Full-Stack Engineer Career Path (the longest), Bootstrap, C#, Java, JQuery, PHP, Python. I thought it will be useful for the final projects, but in the third stage you end up using only HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, JQuery, some APIs and PHP.
It really gives the impression that the excessive workload is there just to make it harder to reach the one-year mark. It’s simply impossible to properly learn all those languages in just a few months.

When it came to the project phase, I felt completely on my own.
Paddy clearly knows the subject well, but the final project reviews were difficult to follow, partly because of his teaching style, and partly because the reviews were done over the phone instead of using proper tools like Zoom. Honestly, this feels quite outdated for 2025. Also, I often noticed some contradictions between the project instructions and what the instructor actually expected, delaying the delivery of the projects.

After completing everything within the year, I moved on to the recruiting phase.
Belinda was genuinely kind and supportive, and I really appreciated our weekly calls. However, apart from a new CV and a few emails with links to job boards like Indeed, I didn’t receive much additional help with actual job placement.

Overall, I’m surprised by the large number of positive reviews I’ve seen online.
In my case, I was asked to leave a review right after finishing stage 2, when I still had some minimal tutor support, which might explain why so many reviews sound a lot more positive than the full experience actually is.

Hi Alessio,

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that some aspects of the Traineeship were less than satisfactory for you.

Our goal with all of our Traineeships is to offer our candidates a strong foundation of knowledge and skills so that they are prepared to succeed in their chosen field.

With the Full Stack Developer Traineeship, we do include a wide range of programming languages in order to ensure that our candidates have a diverse skillset and are prepared to hit the ground running, regardless of which tech stack a potential employer specialises in. Our Projects Step focuses on a select few languages because we aim for candidates to be able to present polished and concise projects in their portfolios. However, we appreciate that you felt that there was too much content to cover, and we will take your feedback on board.

We would also like to point out that our Traineeships are self-paced, meaning that they can be completed at a pace that suits the learner. Our tutors are available whenever needed to provide assistance, but unfortunately, candidates must reach out to make use of these services.

We are sorry to hear that you felt a lack of clarity around the projects, and we will take this on board as well.

Our recruitment support is multifaceted. In addition to the job board roles that our mentor provided you with, we also worked actively to refer your CV to existing partnered companies and recruiters, as well as networking your CV with new companies on your behalf for the duration of the recruitment stage, as is standard practice. We are sorry to hear that you did not receive much feedback from these efforts.

Although it is unfortunate that you did not receive an offer during our recruitment stage, we do encourage you to keep up your job search! Many of our candidates secure roles within a few months of the recruitment stage ending if they are not placed during that stage. Nonetheless, we are happy to have fulfilled the job guarantee or your money back policy for you.

Honestly the BST app could be managed…

Honestly the BST app could be managed better. No customer service from them and bad organization. The tickets kept disappearing from the app, making me really anxious. Next time come back with the normal tickets please.
