Profiling
On October 4th 2021, I walked into the Westwood Ralphs store #759 on 10861 Le Conte, Los Angeles, CA, 90024, was followed by security, detained and asked what I was carrying in my bag and why I was “patrolling” in the store.
I made a brief entry into the store as I was looking for a specific item which I didn’t find and proceeded to walk out. I never touched anything or lingered. The whole trip lasted just about 10 minutes so it was to my great surprise when security stopped me and asked me why I was “patrolling”. I don’t even know what “patrolling” means in the context of what I was doing. Aside from a small crowd stopping briefly to see what was going on, to my great embarrassment, I thought security was about to drag me off and rough me up.
Suddenly security released me probably because they realized they had nothing to pin on me. I was so upset with this encounter that I went back, found the manager and told him what had happened. When the manager told me security was doing its job profiling me, I thought I would have better luck presenting this problem to Kroger Headquarters because this was the second time I was being profiled in this Westwood Ralphs store.
Well, it’s been three months and despite reaching out to several departments in Kroger, no one has bothered to reach out to me.
