Free Credit Report? I Couldn't Get One

I provided information to obtain a free credit report - then I found out that I'd been digitally railroaded into being pressured to buy some kind of monthly subscription for 25.00 month. Fortunately they didn't have any payment info from me. Very scammy.
I tried time and again to find some way to get a free credit report but didn't succeed. I tried the 'chat' box but it was totally unresponsive.
A waste of time and energy. Very frustrating experience.

Review of Domestika

BE WARNED

BE WARNED! Domestika just defrauded me for 189.00 with their false and misleading ads. Do not give them your visa or debit information! They scammed me by saying that I signed up for a yearly subscription when I did no such thing. I was sucked in by an offer for a course on Black and White photography - then 30 days later they withdrew 189.00 from my bank account for an 'annual subscription fee' that I never knowingly agreed to.

Enterprise does not accept, as a method of payment, Visa Debit cards from Canadian financial institutions

Before reserving a car online in Toronto I phoned the Enterprise Help Line to ascertain if I could use my Scotia Bank Visa Debit card to rent a car at YVR (Vancouver International) airport. They reassured me that it was possible since I had a return ticket to and from that airport in Vancouver. I phoned again after I made the reservation to double check. I was told the same thing.

Yet at the Enterprise kiosk in YVR I was told flatly that they only accepted a major international credit card as a method of payment - maybe they should tell that to the people at the Call Center. I was without a car for my holiday and stranded at Vancouver International Airport. This really messed up my holiday in a big way.

Review of Loblaws

Treated with suspicion and forced to pay twice

After paying (23.50) for my groceries I was leaving the store. The wheels on my cart locked as I went through the doors and a security guy was on me immediately with questions - did you shop? did you pay? lets see the receipt, etc. It really shocked me and I started looking for my receipt but as fate would have it, this was the one time I failed to grab my receipt from the self check out. To make a long story short, they made me pay again. When I got home I checked my bank account and found out that I had absolutely paid before leaving the store the first time and had now paid twice. I went back to the store and spent over an hour getting a refund. I have a really negative impression about Loblaws after the way I was treated and doubt I will ever shop there again.

Inferior build quality on CRX-N470 stereo receiver

The CD player failed on my Yamaha CRX-N470 compact stereo receiver - after only 4 years of regular but light use. I took it into Yamaha on Milner in Scarborough, Ont. and today got a repair quote for $131.76 + tax. Very disappointed in the build quality of this Yamaha product and having to pay this much for the repair - my old Technics CD player lasted through 30 years of flawless service.

Expensive shipping…

I decided to try Blurb for the first time with a small photo book - it was through the "Blurb.ca" site. The regular shipping ended up being more than the cost of the book and a note popped up towards the end of the checkout that informed me that I might be paying customs and other additional fees. This seemed rather stiff to me.

Reply from Blurb

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that your first experience wasn't as good as you had hoped and I'll be happy to clarify your doubts about shipping costs and customs fees.

Our shipping and handling fees include the actual cost of shipping a parcel from our print facility to your doorstep as well as the materials and manpower needed to package your book. This means the price you see for shipping and handling isn't just for the postage alone, but includes other costs associated with shipping the order to you. You can always calculate the shipping cost before placing your order on this page: https://www.blurb.ca/shipping

Some countries may collect customs fees on our products and I understand that you learned that during checkout. Here's the link to our article where you can find that information: https://support.blurb.com/hc/en-us/articles/207794426-Customs-Duties-Taxes-and-Import-Fees

I hope this helps, but if you have any additional questions, feel free to reach Customer Support here: https://support.blurb.com/hc/en-us

Best,
