Unscrupulous T&Cs, buyer beware
Ordered a washing machine and tumble dryer from Appliance City over the phone. Paid £49 for installation of the washing machine for peace of mind that it had been done correctly by someone who knows what they are doing. At no point was I told the installation would be done by the courier. When they arrived it was clear they didn't know what they were doing - first told me they could not install as the water supply had been capped off (it had not) before checking with their colleague who was able to connect. Next I was told that the waste pipe was not suitable and so they would be unable to connect or test that the washing machine was working. When I contacted customer care on the same day to request a refund for the installation that had not taken place I was first told that the fee was non-refundable but they would raise it with the courier and get back to me about a refund. After not hearing anything for a week called again and spoke to someone else who informed me it was *my* responsibility to ensure the pipework was appropriate -(this had not been explained to me when I made the order on the phone). Again refusing to return the fee for services not rendered and told they will raise it with the courier and get back to me, 24 hours later, still nothing. Total lack of understanding or professionalism from the customer care team. I am going to buying a fridge and freezer in the near future but Appliance City have lost any future business from me, all for the sake of £49, will use another retailer who is more upfront about their service and have more reasonable customer services in the future.
