Unscrupulous T&Cs, buyer beware

Ordered a washing machine and tumble dryer from Appliance City over the phone. Paid £49 for installation of the washing machine for peace of mind that it had been done correctly by someone who knows what they are doing. At no point was I told the installation would be done by the courier. When they arrived it was clear they didn't know what they were doing - first told me they could not install as the water supply had been capped off (it had not) before checking with their colleague who was able to connect. Next I was told that the waste pipe was not suitable and so they would be unable to connect or test that the washing machine was working. When I contacted customer care on the same day to request a refund for the installation that had not taken place I was first told that the fee was non-refundable but they would raise it with the courier and get back to me about a refund. After not hearing anything for a week called again and spoke to someone else who informed me it was *my* responsibility to ensure the pipework was appropriate -(this had not been explained to me when I made the order on the phone). Again refusing to return the fee for services not rendered and told they will raise it with the courier and get back to me, 24 hours later, still nothing. Total lack of understanding or professionalism from the customer care team. I am going to buying a fridge and freezer in the near future but Appliance City have lost any future business from me, all for the sake of £49, will use another retailer who is more upfront about their service and have more reasonable customer services in the future.

Professional service from start to finish

Booked We Move Anything for our house move. Very professional service from Patrick and his team throughout, nothing was too much trouble for them. Highly recommend the packing service, everything packed with care and flexible in leaving essential items until the day of move which was important as we were moving with small children. Moving house can be a stressful experience but using We Move Anything made the day run much more smoothly. Thank you!

Review of One4all Gift Cards UK

DO NOT buy these as gifts - a scam

Received one of these as a wedding gift to the value of £20.

The card has a 'valid thru' date on the front of Sept 2022 so figured I would have plenty of time to spend it.

Wrong.

When I tried to use it in a shop it was showing as no funds so checked the balance on the website and as has been the case with lots of other unfortunate customers the entire balance has been used up by the monthly 'card management' fee.

On further reading I see that these fees are included in the small print but then why provide a valid thru date long after the card has been emptied of funds? I think this is a cynical ploy by the business to be deliberately misleading and taking advantage of the fact that the average customer would assume these work like a normal gift card.

The higher ups who dictate this business plan- or should I say scam - that keeps this business going should hang their heads in shame.

Do you, your friends and family a favour and DON'T buy one of these as a gift.

Hi Nik, When a gift card is created the 'Valid Thru' date is placed on the card and set as five years forward from that date.

This date is set five years forward to allow for sufficient shelf-life as the card may be in the post office or shop for a period of time before the card is activated with a balance.

This means that once the card is activated with a balance, the card has a sufficient time frame to be spent before the plastic card itself expires. All plastic money cards eg. gift card, Visa etc. have a life span of usually five years before a replacement is necessary.

Very professional plumbers

Excellent communication from start to finish. After reviewing some photos of the problem area the potential costs were clearly outlined prior to commencing the work. The engineer attended at the time agreed and although there was some unexpected findings with our aging central heating system the work was completed on the day with no mess left afterwards. I would happily use AG Fraser again and in fact already have booked them in for some further work.
