Review of EO Charging

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The worst company I have ever dealt with.

EO has decided to not just stop supporting my 4 y.o.EV charger but to TURN IT OFF! They say it doesn't match latest legislation. (Although that only applies to new installations.) They have ignored every communication sent to them. I will now start legal proceedings to seek redress. Lindsay Porter (Motoring Writer) PS Octopus, here I come!

Review of mytyres.co.uk

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Uncontactable.

I wanted to order well over £1000 worth of wheels/tyres. I needed confirmation they were correct and advice. I sent an email to the address they give. It bounced back. I called the number on their website. It is an "incorrect number'. The other number is an auto-phone with 2 options, neither is relevant. This is for a simple pre-purchase query. Imagine what would happen if anything went wrong! FAR too risky to use. Don't use them!

Review of 123 Reg

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Unbelievably difficult to contact!

We were once with 123 but left. We now receive information saying they have taken payments. BUT - and this is the worst bit - there is no means of contacting them other than by phone (I am deaf) or letter. Really? And this is a high-tech company?
All other contacts require you to log-in but we can't log in as we are no longer with them. And I refuse to create a new account with them just to remind them that we are no longer with them.
Are they trying to hide - surely not! - or not very competent at running their business?
Now let me see - why did we leave in the first place? Hmmm. Lindsay Porter, Porter Publishing Ltd

AFTER 123'S REPLY: Yes, my account is still open (it shouldn't be; we moved all our domains away from 123 in 2019) and I can now see that 123 has been taking payments from us in error.
The point remains that there is no email address for contacting 123 in order to sort out their errors. How inefficient of them to be communicating with me via Trustpilot. Dreadful!

Reply from 123 Reg

Hello Lindsay,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sorry to hear about the unsatisfactory experience. All invoices are sent to the login email address of the account the payment was made in. This means that your 123 Reg account is still active. You can ask for a password reset(https://sso.123-reg.co.uk/forgotten-password/) using the email address you received the invoice at.

Once you have gained access to the account you can reach out to one of our Care guides via Chat/Ticket and they will be more than happy to help you: https://www.123-reg.co.uk/contact/.

Kind regards,
Matei

Apparently dishonest company.

Company claims it will refund if PDF elements software unsatisfactory. It won't allow image editing (brightness, contrast, sharpness) so no use to me. I contacted them on each of these dates - but they just fob you off then close the case. To put it bluntly, they are dishonest. I am reclaiming via PayPal. These are all the message dates on which we have corresponded and which they have failed to refund as promised.

Review of NCH Software

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

What bar stewards!

You do the decent thing and buy the software. Then later, you try to reinstall it after a computer upgrade. NCH automatically updates your installation to the 'latest version' - and then wants you to pay again because you are now using the latest version. What a shoddy trick!
Reply to NCH's Response: 6 whole months of 'free' updates! Wowzah! They just don't get it, do they.

Review of eM Client

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Paid-for account but asking $99 US for support!

I switched to eM Client because my computer was playing up and Office was struggling. I reinstalled my hard drive and now Office Outlook is back again - so I decided to switch back. Why?
Compared with Outlook, eM Client is amateurish and clunky. Very old-fashioned interface and very unintuitive . Still, I paid for it (fair do's) and contacted support in North America (only phone support is available - no other) and was told it costs $99.95 - a HUNDRED US DOLLARS! For supporting a paid-for program.
In the UK, we call that 'taking the P'...

Review of LambdaTek

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Watch out! Very obstructive returns policy.

I have purchased from Lambda-Tek several times over the years but never before had to make a return. This item doesn't work with my computer so I need to return it. Under Distance Selling regulations, this should be straightforward. (See gov .uk website accepting-returns-and-giving-refunds.) But Lambda go against the regulations in AT LEAST the three following ways. 1. If the box has been opened, no return accepted. 2. Tighter time limits than the regulations allow. 3. Refusal to accept obligations as retailer for faulty goods; seeking to invoke manufacturer's warranty instead.
ALL of these contravene the Distance Selling regulations and I will never buy from them again.

RESPONSE TO LAMBA-TEK'S REPLY
Okay what about these T&Cs then:
1. "Unwanted products will be taken back ...so long as...the package is unopened and no seals have been broken." NOTE This contravenes the Regs (unless digital content).
2. "We will refund...within 30 days of receiving the returned goods." NOTE The Regs state 30 days from notification, not receipt.
3. "This authorization is valid only for 5 working days to send the item back and 10 days to receive it," NOTE This does not appear in the Regs.
4. "Depending on the manufacturer's warranty..." NO. The responsibility relies ENTIRELY with the retailer. This is a cop-out (though quite common).
Haven't got time to go through more BUT:
You'd think that having been shown to be in the wrong, a little contrition from Lamba-Tek would have been preferable to more foot-in-mouthery.
I wonder if they will honour their return obligations. They seem honourable if somewhat mistaken so I expect they will but - watch this space!
Monday 25 Jan. Refunded. But what a palaver!

Dear Lindsay Porter,
I think you have mis-read our correspondence: your return has been accepted and we have given you 15 days to have the item returned!
We invite you to collaborate with our returns team by following their instructions, as they are only trying to help, rather than airing your unfounded allegations about our company in public without even having given them a chance to comply with your request.
We look forward to processing you return as per your request as soon as we receive the item.
Kind regards

Review of Lenovo

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Lenovo's support is pathetic.

My Lenovo T470p is okay but their information/support is terrible! Their manuals frequently fail to cover important aspects of the machine and my latest problem is that I purchased a Lenovo WiFi Dock for my computer based on Lenovo's website recommendation (see below) but when trying to install it, there is a message (from Lenovo) saying that the two are incompatible. Very untrustworthy information. I never had this problem with Dell. Here's the (wrong) information I based my purchase on. "The optional ThinkPad WiGig Dock can connect effortlessly, wirelessly, and instantly to your T470p and all its peripherals, such as a monitor or backup storage device. Simply place your T470p within six feet of the dock and it will do the rest. As well as reducing desktop clutter, this easy-to-use dock can even power all your other devices."
