Casa Mechanical backs up their work

Casa is the sub-contractor Century Communities-Jimmy Jacobs Division used for the plumbing in our custom home in 2019. As with most builds, things went OK and many issues arose with all the subs except the roofers and the stone masons. Fast forward 4.5 years and we decide to replace the toilets in our home as Century's sales dept. did not relay our information correctly and the wrong units were installed. The sales person had left the company so no record existed of our order. On the 3rd replacement unit, it was discovered the toilet hold down bolts had never been tightened. This created a fair leak which in turn destroyed the wood flooring around the unit. It is a powder room which does not get much use thankfully. I decided to post pictures of the damage and to my surprise Casa Mechanical reached out to us. Century did NOT contact us. Joe at Casa offered to assist in this issue as it was clearly there from the start. They brought in a professional flooring person who did a marvelous job of replacing the flooring with materials we had kept from the original build. I have a construction back round and Joe went above and beyond to assist with this repair. Thanks Joe...2 thumbs up for customer service.
I want to give a shout out to Abram Campos at Millennium Flooring at 210-386-7241 for great, clean work and a great attitude. The finished product is shown below.

After The Warranty Period Expires

(Please see the update from 11-01-23 at below.) Anyone who has built a home here in Texas in the past 4 to 5 years has a horror story or two to relay. Building a custom home in the 7 figure category in 2019, IMO, comes with certain expectations from the Contractor and its sub-contractors. What happens when a client discovers multiple issues with a structure after the warranty period has expired? One of the items melted the disconnect box in one of the 3 attic HVAC units due to a lack of code required cable attachment at the box. The potential for fire was very high. Should those items be considered poor workmanship, code violations or both? The home in question was completed July 2019. As a retired journeyman carpenter, I have knowledge about residential construction and I have restrained my desires to post negative comments about this Builder and the associated sub-contractors. I figured I have the ability to correct a high percentage of the issues to our satisfaction which I have been doing over the past 2.5 years since the warranty period ended keeping accurate written and photographic evidence of the issues both when discovered and after they have been corrected. After today's discovery, 10-11-2023, my wife & I decided it was time to alert the community about the level of workmanship we received from this Builder in hopes they could avert some of the issues we faced and continue to face. Today I started to replace the toilet in the front powder room which gets little if any use. The wrong toilets were installed in our home however that was the fault of the salesman who left the company prior to the finish plumbing portion of the build. The right hold down bolt was loose and the one on the left side of the bowl was finger tight and the left bolt was not even in contact with the base of the bowl. As I lifted the bowl from the wood flooring, it was clear there was never a seal between the bowl and the pipe flange due to the hold down bolts never being tightened. The wax ring showed absolutely no distortion indicating zero contact with the base of the bowl. This created a water leak and the wood flooring under the bowl is completely rotted to the point it crumbles at the slightest touch. I will be replacing that flooring before the new unit is installed. The feed line to the tank was placed too low to the floor to accomodate the 6" base boards so the trim escutcheon did not fit tightly against the wall. The hole where the pipe entered the room was not sealed or caulked either. I have to place blame with the Jimmy Jacobs Division of Century Communities as well as Casa Mechanical, the plumbing company responsible for the plumbing installation. Century allowed the superintendent to acquire employment with another builder while still working on our home. His absence at the job site was more than noticeable. The subs, many without house plans, started coming to me for supervision as I started appearing on a regular basis with a set of plans. This one item today may seem trivial but it is only one of a very long list of issues over the past 2.5 years since the warranty period expired. Our experience with the contractor during the build and the warranty period was poor at best. I do not recommend Century Communities or Casa mechanical as contractors. Century, in our opinion, misrepresented their ability to construct a high end home to the level discussed and expected. Our experience with them only makes that point for us.

Casa Mechanical reached out to us after I posted my review. Century Communities-Jimmy Jacobs Division did NOT contact us. Casa had the floor replaced at their expense. Joe at Casa bent over backwards to see this thru and it happened quickly too. We originally would go thru Century for warranty work but once that expired they just turned us down. Going directly to Casa after the fact was the answer. Any company who fixes issues which were there from the beginning, once given the opportunity, in my book is doing the right thing. Cudos to Joe and Casa Mechanical.

Review of Dakota Lithium Battery

Product Support Fulfilled

I purchased the 36 volt golf cart package on 12/21/20 & rec'd them on 12/24/20. Very pleased with ship time. After install, golf cart would shut down on takeoff. One battery drops to 9 volts under load & cart controller kicks into low voltage protect mode. Have e-mailed through Dakota's website 3 times and called twice with no response. E-mailed direct from my email & no response. Will give 24 hrs. & file dispute w/credit card Co. Sad. Reviews on web page looked promising. What good is 11 year warranty if no one responds?
Update: Dakota has responded (sort of) through this review. I will update my review as things progress.

Update: Jan 18, 2021. I heard from Dakota Lithium on Jan 13, 2021 but nothing since. I answered the questions from support but no response has been given. I will update this post as news emerges. Issue has not yet been resolved.

2nd Update. I received an email today from sales and 2 auto reply emails regarding Covid, high product demand and staff working from home keeping them from catching up. They did state the 30 day return period would be extended as I am waiting to hear from support.

3rd Update. I have received an email from Dakota and they are sending out return labels and stating they will be issuing a full refund. I'll report back once I receive the labels and see if it is in fact a "full" refund. Good progress non-the-less. I'll raise the star ratings once all has transpired.

Dakota has responded to the issue with our golf cart. Support has determined the amp draw in our cart is higher than the BMS threshold and therefore they are issuing a full refund of our purchase including the return shipping. A company needs to back up its products and Dakota has followed through with their claims.
