Disgraceful policy of trying to avoid honouring guarantee.
Our 3year-old Vallant boiler has started to cut out, displaying an F28 error message, which refers to an ignition problem. Since the boiler is under guarantee, I called to have an engineer come and sort it out. On getting through to the service department, I was told that I would need to show proof that the boiler had been serviced annually and show a copy of the Vaillant log to the engineer. Otherwise, I would have to pay for the visit and repair. I did not have the paper copies of the annual inspection reports (from British Gas) to hand and I am not sure I have ever had a logbook. As it is, a British Gas engineer looked at the boiler. After a thorough inspection he said that the gas valve was not working properly and needed replacing. SO.... turns out this is 100% a Vaillant fault but they will not fix it under guarantee, even though it is statement of fact that the boiler has been serviced annually.
It is difficult to avoid the conclusion that Vaillant have a policy of putting obstacles in the way of customers pursuing their rights under guarantee. Or is there another explanation....?
