I was encouraged to check-in early online to fast-track the collection process using a process called ‘Quick Pass’…
At the counter, the Quick Pass button was not working and I had to wait almost an hour to collect the car.
The staff were friendly enough, however the car was not what I ordered and it was in poor condition with visible damage and various minor mechanical faults.
The exterior was covered in dents and scratches and clearly had not been looked after. It made a knocking sound when turning (often a sign of a problem with the suspension or steering column components) and on the last day, when I pressed the boot button, the switch disappeared inside the internal mechanism so I could not open the boot.

We used ABBYCARto hire our car in Corfu. Their office is situated about 250m from the airport terminal, which is not a huge distance, but it is not an ideal location when you have just arrived with holiday luggage to transport.
The staff were friendly and the car collection was straightforward.
Our vehicle was slightly damaged the evening before we returned it. ABBYCAR helped with the completion of all the paperwork in relation to the accident and did a good job of minimising a potentially stressful experience.
Review of Travel Republic
I was given a credit note for a holiday that got cancelled due to COVID-19 in December last year.
Unfortunately the credit note had to redeemed by March 31st this year. I wasn’t really happy that the credit note had such a short shelf life and a swift expiry date, it seemed unreasonable to expect me to rebook a holiday when we are still in the middle of lockdown surrounded by uncertainty and travel restrictions.
In addition, there were several conditions attached to the credit note which were irritating. For example, it could only be used for one holiday and the original airline had to be used for the flights. I managed to identify a holiday package which replicated the one I booked last year only to discover that Travel Republic no longer has a relationship with Ryanair. As a result they used the credit note for the hotel only and agreed to refund me for the flights only.
In the end, the assistant who helped me redeem the credit note and arranged the holiday was courteous, polite and helpful. I would have given a higher rating but the lack of flexibility surrounding the credit note was a negative and frustrating experience.

Review of Holiday Autos
We rented a car in Crete from a company called Abby Car, located about 200 metres from the airport building at Chania.
We asked for a a Fiat Panda and got exactly what we asked for. It was cheap and well within our budget - the fuel economy was brilliant. We travelled most of the island before had to refuel. Very good value for money.
My only advice is to be aware of the terrain in the country where you rent the car. Some roads are poor quality or dirt tracks which can damage your car or cause it to become very dirty and the hire company may impose additional costs for cleaning.
We were very careful and cleaned the car before returning it, to avoid any costs from the hire company.
