Done with Shipley

This company took over Haly Home Comfort. I used Haly to install and maintain my gas furnace. My experience with this company has not been good. Overpriced and poor service. My most recent service appointment is a good example. Despite having a 4-hour service window, the technician arrives 40 minutes late. When the appointment was set up, I requested a call 15 minutes before arrival in advance so I could crate my dog. Never got it. Even if I never requested a call, it would be common courtesy to call when you are running so late.

In addition to the “visit” fee, I was charged for cleaning my burners. This unit underwent the annual maintenance a few months ago by Shipley, so I really question what was done during the annual maintenance.

I also think some of their business practices are a little suspect. My annual service contract was renewed without any advance warning. This is not illegal in PA but is very anti-consumer friendly.

What is unscrupulous is that I could not set my contract to not auto-renew via their online portal. Every attempt generated an “An unknown error occurred while attempting to delete this profile.” I had to call and cancel.

My experience with Quicken continues to be disappointing.

You deployed new functionality in Quicken Deluxe and literally weeks later have removed it with no communication making it only available in Quicken Premium. Worse yet, your support team had no clue on the direction change (wasted 90 minutes) and from a software engineering perspective, you have left enough fragments of the new function in the Deluxe product so the product crashes if you unknowingly attempt to use the new function’s left-over transaction types.

Furthermore, financial institutions seem to be distancing themselves for Quicken. For example, Discover Bank now says they do not support Quicken. It still works but not for all kinds of accounts and Quicken does nothing to facilitate resolution (other than to say work with Discover Bank who tells you that do not support the product).

Finally, as long time Quicken user, I have not been recently surveyed about support or the product. I don’t think the company cares about feedback from its users.

I would discourage anyone from using Quicken given the poor support and management of the product.
