Avoid Avoid

Avoid Avoid. Just been well and truly turned over by Martin Service dept. First ever visit. Took my 10 year old Skoda in to have an intermittent fault on the radio/Sat Nav system looked at. Mentioned to the service staff that the car was 10 years old so not spending a fortune on this problem. Got a quote four hours later for £511.20 for a new aerial but it might also need further work! Obviously declined. Went to collect the car and was told that there was a £199 charge. First time it was mentioned that there would be any charge at all. Why would I even think about spending £199 on a 10 yr old car for a quick report telling me about a fault I was already aware of? No doubt because of previous customers the guy on the desk had even highlighted the figure on the paper work with his yellow pen...pathetic.
Wish I looked at Truspilot before getting the full Martins treatment.

Excellent service from Ntombi

Excellent service from Ntombi. Only downside is the time waiting to get through and also the fact I wasn’t able to adjust my payments to the correct amount online.

Shocking

Shocking. My 92 yr old father in law who suffers from dementia and his 86 yr old wife decided to install a stairlift for him at their home. We were aware they were looking but asked them not to proceed with any orders until we had checked out any companies precisely because of what you are about to read regarding Ableworld in Southampton. They were visited by a salesman called Jack. To keep costs down they asked for a reconditioned model and were originally quoted an eye watering £4122 which he very generously discounted by £250. So they signed up to pay a total of £3872 for a second hand system. Sadly, we knew nothing about this at the time. On the day it was being fitted my father in law suffered a bad fall in front of the fitter. He was taken to hospital by ambulance whilst the job was being completed. Since that day he has returned home for one night only and has now been admitted to a care home. The system has been used on half a dozen occasions for testing. After six weeks it was apparent that her husband of 63 years was not coming home so my mother in law contacted Ableworld to ask how much they would offer her back to remove the system - £350! Yes you read that figure correctly. So a loss of a simply staggering £3522 in less than two months. Wow. I contacted Jack at Ableworld to register our disgust and I asked him how he justified the figures. His reply was it's 'blasted all over the paperwork'.
So all I take from your reply is that a standard staircase in a 1960's UK home is 'quite a complex' job for your staff at Ableworld Southampton. You also forgot to mention anything about a price refund which was requested.

Dear Harry.
Thank you for your comments. Our Southampton store have let us know the details of this query, as I understand there has been a number of discussions regarding the buy back price with Jack and the team.
With reconditioned curved lifts the track installed is always new and is built bespoke for every individual property. I understand this configuration is quite complex, meaning that the majority of the cost is in the rail. The price of the stairlift also originally included production of the track, delivery, installation and the warranty that was provided with it.
When we Buy Back curved stairlifts we Buy Back the seat and motor unit and the rail is disposed of, as it is bespoke it cannot be reused, which is why the price quoted is lower than the price your parents originally paid.
We do offer all of our customers a buy back price but they don’t have to be accepted, you can choose to sell the stairlift elsewhere if you wish, if you think it is worth more than we can offer on this occasion.
