Booked a room at Novotel, Southampton, UK. I thought I was booking directly with the hotel. First taxes were not included in what I was quoted but then appeared on the booking form. I thought prices in the UK had to include taxes. Second I was told I had to pay for breakfast after I had eaten it. There was no indication at time of booking nor on confirmation that the price did not include breakfast. Normal practice is to have B&B in the UK. Third, I was at a function at the hotel. When I talked to others attending I found they had paid £75 per night with breakfast and I'd paid over £100 (the cheapest available I was told 2 months before I went) without breakfast. When I complained to the UK website of Getaroom I was told I'd booked with the US site which is nothing to do with them. What sort of business is this???
