Misleading resolution options

Our daughter's pixel 4a stopped charging due to the recognised battery problem. We were accepted for a variety of compensation options, but I feel like all of them were made deliberately difficult. To get the battery fixed required a minimum 2 hour drive. We took the option of a £100 voucher towards a new phone, but the cheapest option available was £500. I wrote to the support team asking for a greater range of phone options, but this was rejected without any way to escalate the complaint.

Appalling mis-selling

Terrible information and consistency from the repair team in the shop and on the phone.

We bought a laptop from Currys that was dropped and damaged by my daughter. We went into the shop to replace it, and saw that there was a repairs service available. We spoke to them and paid £50 for the assessment. While we were told that the cost was for parts and labour no estimate could be provided. I was shocked when recieving a phone call from the repair team telling me that it would be a further £370 to fix the computer. After looking up alternatives online I found that this was considerably more than the cost of replacing like for like brand new. I rang the repair team and was told that the repair was cancelled and that the device was being returned to the shop unrepaired. I was explicitly told that when we came in to collect it the £50 would be paid back to the credit card used to pay it.
Upon our visit to the shop in Milton Keynes we were told that the £50 was non refundable. I asked to speak to a manager who said the same. I told them about the conversation I had on the phone, and was told that the calls were not recorded so this could not be confirmed. Upon further discussion it turned out that this was a lie, but they weren't prepared to request the recording. I rang the number again, while in the shop, and the initial recorded message said " We may record phone calls". The person I spoke to there gave different advice, again, saying that vouchers of a value of £25 should be issued.
The person I spoke to said that they would request the recording to see what was advised. I was told that I would get a phone call from a manager within 48 hours. 72 hours later, I have had no contact. I am currently on hold to the complaints team, and have been for 24 minutes and counting.

Good response to delivery problems

The item had not been delivered before I was prompted to give a review. Following a poor review I was very quickly contacted by a representative of the company apologising and asking about how to put it right. They followed up the delivery and sent another replacement item. They waived the postage costs. The original delivery has now arrived and an additional glove is on the way. This was an excellent response and very much appreciated.
