Hotel star rating "more of a guide" than a reality
I will use LoveHolidays again as a vehicle to search for hotels etc, but will be booking the hotel and flight directly from now on.
We're just back from an expensive holiday in Crete which was supposed to be in a 5 Star hotel, but it was more like a 2 star with a list of unsafe, and unclean amenites.
We wanted nothing from LoveHolidays but to leave the hotel and return home, out of pocket or not but we were told that this would be difficult i.e. impossible, and that we needed to liaise with hotel to resolve our issues (ants nest in the room x 5, dangerous electrics x 4, broken electrical items x 3, all inclusive hot food was cold, cold food was wilted, fruit was from tins, fish under heat lamps by the look of them for hours as dry and hard on the outside etc etc). Because the hotel moved us to another room (which clearly could do nothing to influence the food / quality and cleanliness of the amenities etc) they wouldn't agree to either move us or arrange return flights.
