First purchase and the last

First purchase from this company and a bad experience. The product was in stock when ordered (06/09/2025) and after a few days had passed I noticed I had not received a dispatch confirmation. So I phoned them (11/09/2025) to be told it was as well I had phoned because the order had not been processed even though they had taken my money and if I had not phoned this would have gone un-noticed. Then after the phone call I receive and email to say the product was out of stock and I would be refunded but would have to wait 4-5 working days to process this.

Extortionate delivery charges and slow dispatch

Ordered a set of mudguards from Tredz and paid and extortionate £9.99 postage because I am in Northern Ireland and 2 days later the mudguards were still not dispatched. So I contacted Tredz through chat to cancel and request a refund. They told me the order had been collected by the courier and my refund could not be processed until they received the order back from the courier. This is not my problem as I did not have the order, the courier did, so this was not in my control and not acceptable. I then phoned Tredz and spoke to a very helpful gentleman who initiated my refund there and then. Why was there the need for all the run around I was given on live chat. I will not be shopping here again, I bought the same mudguards from Bikeparts.co.uk and paid £2.95 for shipping.

Another great shopping experience

My 2nd purchase from XLMOTO and again I'm really pleased. I bought the Course Boomer Motorcycle Jacket Black in large using the size guide provided and it is a perfect fit. I am 176cm and 77kg with 104cm chest. I also bought the XLMOTO Slipstream Motorcycle Backpack - black, which for the money seems to be great though I have yet to try it out on the bike.

Increased insurance four-fold for no reason

Insured my bike with them last year for £106 fully comprehensive with breakdown cover included. This year they raise the premium to £466 with me having no claims or convictions etc. Their customer service regarding this may as well be non-existant orrffering no help at all. I will not deal with this company again.

We apologise in regards to your renewal increase, as a broker we are only able to offer the cheapest price with the insurers we work, and always send out the cheapest we can offer with them for your renewal. We have a select panel of insurers so we do not have access to the whole insurance market. We understand if you were able to find a cheaper policy elsewhere, and that you do not wish to renew, but we appreciate the feedback and are sad to see you go as a customer.

ZERO CUSTOMER SUPPORT

After opening an account I have been waiting 2 days now for a support enquiry with regard to transferring money into the account. The only contact I have had is with a BOT which is totally useless. Plenty of other banks out there if Trading 212 don't want my money. It's also a joke that there is no account number that I can see associated with my account.

In response to Trading 212's reply my conversations were not handled instantly. Would not put my money in an institution that is untruthful.

Very poor experience

I bought a slip on exhaust from them last year which came with the wrong strap and had to wait 3 more days on the proper one being delivered before I could ride the bike. Thought I would give them a second chance and ordered another exhaust last week for my MT07. I received an email from DPD to say the exhaust was out for delivery on Thursday, I waited in all day and no parcel was delivered (day wasted) and instead they delivered on Friday. On proceeding to fit the exhaust I came across a faulty nut and bolt which would not tighten to it's full extent. I contacted Black Widow who said they would pop one in an envelope and send it Royal Mail and I should have it Monday. Instead they sent it DPD and again I received an email from DPD saying it would be delivered on Tuesday which did not happen so another day wasted. Never mind the terribly poor delivery service, I think issues with the 2 exhaust purchases themselves leaves a lot to be desired and speaking with Black Widow customer services was not really any help with nothing more than an apology for my wasted time. They will be getting no repeat custom from me.

Avoid Avoid Avoid

Bought a Delonghi coffee machine just before Christmas as a present for a family member and paid a £25 buyer protection fee on top of the item price. The machine arrived not working and I have been in contact with John Pye customer services and have been palmed off with the usual rubbish about it being an auction. What was the buyer protection fee for, was it just another means of levering money out of my pocket. Needless to say I will be contacting Trading Standards about this scam of an auction site.

In response to the pathetic reply, what use is it viewing of an item that cannot be seen functioning during the viewing.

The high percentage of one star reviews should have warned me not to buy from here in the first place.

Terrible customer service.

Very slow to issue refund even though it was their mistake

Monday 3rd April I ordered a used battery for my Nikon D7000. A couple of days later my circumstances changed and I no longer needed the battery so I requested to cancel the order and have a refund (7th April). At the time of requesting the cancellation my order was neither showing "ready to pick" or "dispatched", so according to the terms on their website this should have been a simple task. I also requested this via live chat and by means of a phone call to their office. Instead they went ahead and dispatched my order and then had to request it to be returned from the courier and then wait until they had it back in their possession before they would return my money. So I waited 2 weeks on a refund for an item that I never had delivered to me in the first place. Not sure if they are using an antiquated system or if it is just poor customer service but either way this will be my last purchase from MPB following a string of dissapointments. Seems I just have no luck shopping here even though luck should not come into the equation.

Review Update:

I was offered a discount voucher for the inconvenience. The voucher has a £250 minimum spend with a 6 month time limit on it. Considering I have only ever spent more than £250 once with MPB and my last spend was over 6 month ago the voucher may as well not have been offered. Seems they are so big now losing a customer does not matter any more.

Booked bike for collection, courier never showed

Booked a bike for collection on the 15/03/2023, took the day off work and waited in all day to 6.20pm. Courier never showed up, no notofication of them not being able to make it, a total waste of a day for me. I contacted Bikedelivery about this failure and all the assistance I received was to be provided with a phone number to chase the courier up myself. After chasing the courier up my bike was finally lifted 2 days late on the 17th. The van driver's attitude left a lot to be desired and the way he handled my bike box showed little care. Will never use them again......AVOID.

A string of poor experiences

I recently bought a D7000 (TX-UK-7071770) which was described on their web page as "Like New". When I received the camera it showed wear to the grips, had a large piece of dust in the viewfinder and dust spots on the sensor which showed at f22, returned for refund. As I mostly shoot landscapes the dust spots on the sensor was really unacceptable. My confidence in making anymore purchases has been lessened as I now have not much faith in their grading of products. After posting this review I was offed a discount on my next purchase and an assurance that it would be fully checked before sending out, so I bought another D7000 (TX-UK-7090207) this time described as Excellent. When it arrived it had significant dust in the viewfinder and smears on the sensor, returned for refund. Again I was offered discount on my next purchase so I went for a 3rd D7000 and this time the camera came as described, happy days. Seems their grading is very poor and hit and miss. My latest purchase (was a Lowepro Pro Tactic 250 backpack again described as new, when this arrived it had marks to the interior and some staining to the exterior of the bag, so again this was returned for a refund. When I received the refund it was minus the postage costs which I had to then chase this up with MPB, something that should not have had to be done. I think I have been more than fair giving this company all the chances to provide accurate descriptions of their products but it seems they continually fail. I think I have had my fill of bad experiences here and this will be my last.

Well I got a response as they said but no support of any kind was offered, not that they care but they have lost a long standing customer.

Never again!

Bought a camera lens from them recently and received a different colour of lens from the one they had used a photo of on their website. When I complained I was told............... "Please be advised that since we deal in second-hand items, images on our website are for representation purposes only and the title is the only true description of the item you would receive. Hence if the item is not graded according to its colour, any colour in stock with the store could be sent out to you. Also, as we don't "grade" lenses, it can be anywhere from mint to poor condition and will show signs of previous usage."............ I would not buy from this store again as you doo not know what you are buying with regard to condition. I returned the lens for a refund.

If the colour is not mention in the product description, then we aren't able to gurantee which colour an item would come in as due to the nature of our business ie. the buying and selling of second hand products and the number of items that we deal in, it is not possible for us to gurantee an item colour or condition and when such is the case, the colour or condition ie. grade is not mention in the product description.

However, do be assured that we request stores to conduct checks prior to dispatching an item to ensure that a product is sent in working condition.
