Munich - Dublin - Shocking experience - accused of being a liar
Booked a flight from Munich to Dublin for June 18th. Decided later on to pay extra to take my bag on board as I needed to get through the airport quickly to make another connection via bus to Wexford. Checked in online on the 16th, all fine but it I didn't receive my boarding card. I was allocated seat 10f. Tried again on Sunday morning but systems were down. Kept throwing up errors.
I arrived at the airport and my god, everyone else must have had the same issue. A whole plane full, queueing for check in. One desk was taken up with a family for 30 minutes, another check in desk left so we were left with one check in person. I finally reached the desk after an hour waiting in line. I politely asked, oh, was there an issue with the online check-in. I was met with the rudest person who snapped back at me that she didn't know. Ok sorry. This is where is got worse.
She asked how many bags had I. I showed her my cabin bag and laptop bag. Said I am bringing them on the plane as I paid extra. In the rudest tone ever she responded that there was no record of this and if i wanted to get on the flight I was to put them in hold. I was more or less called a liar. Even after showing the receipt, it wasn't good enough. I went into my banking app and showed the money had been taken out. Still refusing to believe me. Again I was ordered to put them in hold, I explained again that I paid additionally to get through the airport as I need to make a connection. She scoffed, what connection, you are only flying to Dublin. I explained my mum was in hospital and I had to take a bus and needed to get make connection as soon as possible.
She threw the passport back at me and said only for my mum is in hospital that I am allowed to take my bags on board. I remained patient throughout but they way i was a treated and made out to be a liar and a cheat after showing proof of payment. Several people who witnessed the event came up to me afterwards and were appalled at how I was treated.
