Overcharged for materials!
One of Plumbingforce's engineers came to repair an outdoor leaking pipe. He was polite, helpful and knowledgeable.
However, on checking the paperwork after he left I was stunned at the cost of materials and my impression of Plumbingforce Limited went from 'Hero to Zero!'
Being a confident DIYer I am fairly familiar with the price of materials and a quick look on-line confirmed my initial thought; which was I had been massively overcharged!
I do not know how they can justify charging £223 + VAT for around 13 meters of 15mm copper pipe, a similar length of pipe insulation , a handful of pipe clips and a 22mm stopcock. Admittedly there were a few copper pipe and MDPE fittings as well but I doubt the total cost of all the materials if purchased through Screwfix or heating and plumbing supplier would cost more c£60 + VAT.
All in all with labour and VAT I was charged £523.20 for 2.5 hours work and a handful of parts.
I challenged the materials cost with the after sales team who reviewed the case and stated I had been provided an estimate for the works which I had agreed before work commenced but this was not the case. I only received the 'estimate' once the work was complete. I again challenged this with the after sales team and received an email saying "...As we're unable to help you further with this, any email received about this matter will be automatically closed down with no response."
