Terrible customer service
Terrible service - I ordered a perishable gift paying for named day delivery via the website. All confirmed in writing by F&M. Then when the gift was being sent out the confirmation email confirmed a different delivery date - not the named date. When I called to query, the customer service person was not very helpful and said that the date was changed because DPD did not delivery on the named delivery date. No contact to confirm that date was OK, they'd just gone ahead and changed it. Had I not picked this up, the perishable gift would have sat on the door step in the sun for 24 hours because the recipients were not going to be at home! There was no apology from the customer service rep, just a 'what do you want me to do? Change the delivery date or cancel the order'. I expect premium customer service from a premium brand and I did not receive this.
**Edit - to add further insult to injury - the gift has now been rearranged not for the revised date I requested but to the day AFTER the anniversary the gift is for!! Again no call back by the agent to confirm this is OK. If you offer next day delivery for gift delivery, and charge extra for it, you should only offer dates that the courier service you use can deliver. And you shouldn't just book an alternative date without contacting the customer. Do better Fortnum & Mason!
