Dangerous VW approved car
I purchase a polo 2014, 30 day hand back if problems. 1st few day ok, then wife reported loss of power, oil light blink on, engine warning light. Limped it round corner onto driveway. I plugged in reader to see what wrong, misfire cylinder 1, shut down injector to prevent catalyst damage.
VW assist came out showed him codes which I cleared and hadn’t reappeared. Faffed about greased coil pack, insulation damaged and cracked when removed and refitted, took it a spin, didn’t miss fire, not changing anything as computer did not see a code.
Drove again, wife reported miss fire again, one occasion on turning right misfired returned loss of power fortunately driver braked otherwise lights out.
I drove Thursday night to Newtownabbey, couple of miss fires but drove, arrive and at location and then left. Approached round about from branch road, drove on and went to accelerate off roundabout, missfire sequence required me to de clutch and scream engine to get some power slipping clutch to avoid being rear ended by 71/2 tonne lorry. Then engine went back onto all cylinders.
Called VW assist as it’s under warranty, got some idiot on the phone, we won’t come to house, you need to drive it to dealer.
Called dealer reported, 3 hours later get a call, we are very busy catching up on service work (other words I’ve bought a car not interested in sorting as the get fresh cash for servicing not warranty work) it might be 3-4 weeks before we can fit you in. We don’t have a loan car.
So do I now jack the car back as still within 30 days or will Donnellys get their finger out?
I know as a key worker running transporter vans they shut up shop and ignored non police and ambulance customers and we had to do servicing elsewhere. Now it looks like I will have to see if someone else can step up and sort it and I will have to pay even though I paid for 12 month warranty which is a VW but seems like all promise and no legs.
So jack it and demand refund or will someone make it safe and give another 30 jack period?
Wonder can I get a refund on 3 year service plan?
Very disappointing
