Horrible experience with Scan, very bad aftersales service beware
Laptop that I purchased from Scan catastrophically failed after 2 months of use. I have been waiting for the laptop to be repaired for 2 months. Scan and their manufacturing company cannot seem to find a repair. After multiple complaints, Scan have offered me store credit as a solution to the problem, instead of a refund. They are breaking the law by ignoring my final right to reject as stated in the Consumer Rights Act 2015 article 24 - for (5c).
for reference:
(5)A consumer who has the right to a price reduction and the final right to reject may only exercise one (not both), and may only do so in one of these situations—
(a)after one repair or one replacement, the goods do not conform to the contract;
(b)because of section 23(3) the consumer can require neither repair nor replacement of the goods; or
(c)the consumer has required the trader to repair or replace the goods, but the trader is in breach of the requirement of section 23(2)(a) to do so within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to the consumer.
Scan have shown no goodwill in this scenario and I have been very patient with them. I have been without a proper laptop for the last 2 months and require the use of a laptop as part of my income. I shall be taking action with the authorities to reclaim my money. I was told rudely by one of their managers to open a claim with Paypal if I want my money back, as their policy is to not provide refunds over products sold for more than 30 days, therefore, violating UK law in certain cases. Needless to say I will not ever be purchasing from Scan again.
Update to clarify Scan's message below - The "replacement laptops" offered by Scan were of lower specifications than the one I originally had.
