Awful experience with Parkonomy and Link Parking

Awful experience with Parkonomy and Link Parking.
Parked with my two young children, tried to use the app several times and an error kept coming up. Decided to get the children out as we were meant to be going for a Mother’s Day meal, and as soon as we sat down (within 15 metres of the car) I tried again. Tried different cards. Tried calling the helpline, which was cutting me off.
When I went back to the car to move it, I had been fined. I tried to appeal. I attached screenshots of the errors, explained what was happening with the calls, told them I had two young children, showed them an email from Parkonomy stating there was something wrong with my account, but they denied the appeal.

If the system doesn’t work, for what looks like many people, bring back coins and contactless payments. I for one will not be using any of these car parks again.

Reply from Parkonomy

Hi Katie.

We're sorry you had a less than positive experience. Please note, Parkonomy does not own or manage any car parks, we are the parking payment platform only and therefore do not issue PCNs.

If PCNs are issued by car park operators, we are not notified at any point as to why, where or when. The car park owner has decided not to have payment machines for their own reasons and have opted for online options being App, desktop website, mobile website and Paybymobile (text) services.

We note, you messaged us in April 2025 regarding a PCN issued in March 2025. We are just interested to know if you've had a more recent issue that you are referring to? We can then investigate further.

The error message you highlighted to us was to do with your payment card being declined which, unfortunately, Parkonomy has no control over. We are just interested to know if you've had a more recent issue that you are referring to?

Ultimately, the car park operator requires a parking session payment on arrival to the car park and once the vehicle is parked. They do provide a consideration period to allow people to pay or exit the car park which is likely to be 10 minutes as a minimum.

Appealing the PCN was the right decision if you feel the PCN was issued incorrectly and if the appeal was declined, at the time you could have also taken the Independent appeal process with either IAS or POPLA.

Returns - Issues

I’ve used this company a few times, but recently I had a pair of football boots sent to me that had an issue with the inner sole on one of the boots. It made it extremely uncomfortable, and they were just unwearable because of it. I tried to manoeuvre it, but it was too big for the boot and causing a spike where it folded. I had only tried them on and found this issue instantly.
I sent them back, but I was told by the returns department that they had gone through rigorous testing with no issues so they were being sent back to me. I sent a picture of the issue, fighting that this was incorrect. It took many emails to different departments over quite a few days to finally get an answer stating that even though insoles are not covered, they will give me the refund. I am obviously now worried of ordering anything incase there is a fault I have no control over and having this issue again.

After the initial issue above, I am now editing this review to say I decided to order the Copa Mundial’s, knowing what I should be getting in light blue. Received the Copa Mundial’s in white, black, yellow and red which is not what I wanted. Personalised also. Had to return this item yet again, and now they no longer have light blue left in my wife’s size because they sent the wrong product out.

Kat is amazing!

Kat is amazing. We felt so comfortable talking to her straight away, which helped a lot. We’ve both commented to each other that it’s like talking to one of our friends.
Kat is cheerful, helpful, friendly and direct when she needs to be, and has helped our relationship a lot in the short time we’ve been speaking to her.
We would definitely recommend.
