Had two experiences with Aviva Zero motor insurance. The first time was when I broke down on a busy motorway, rang Aviva Zero and had to wait for over half an hour for someone to answer, who then told me it was a claims only number and then connected me to the breakdown service. I'd buy breakdown cover separately next time. I followed this up later by email, communication wasnt good as different people kept answering me knowing nothing about the situation. And I was given the exact same number to call for breakdown, (as per the tel no on the front of the breakdown booklet) with a token apology for my inconvenience. The whole experience was dire hence the 3 star rating.
The second time was when I wrote my car off; Aviva did pay up, though less than half of what I paid for the car so it was too little to buy anything like a similar model of the same age (it was less than the wholesale price). After last time I didn't bother to chase them up as they had to deal with it eventually, but in fact I didnt have to wait too long- just over 4 wks.
