Friendly, helpful and honest

Off to the Norwich branch of Mr Clutch as it was that time of year again, the MOT was due soon so I booked it in on line. Simple, quick and easy to do (and possibly cheaper on line?). Sat and waited whilst it was done. The waiting area had a new revamp in the past couple of years, the area is tidy with nice comfy seats. I noticed how well Ian the manager was with his interaction with customers, both who came in and on the phone. Very reassuring at times and the whole experience with Mr Clutch is they advise not to have things done if its not necessary. That's a refreshing approach you don't tend to get at many places these days - good old fashioned honesty. I don't write reviews for many places these days, every company seems to want and or need it and I don't have the time, but I'll always make an exception for not just this company, but for this particular branch. Thank you Mr Clutch Norwich.

You've asked for feedback to help improve things in the future. If in the future I have to make a claim then that's when we find out how good or bad any insurance company is. Right now your ability to take a pile of money from me and nothing more is brilliant. You excelled at gettng my hard earned money. But, I would leave these silly little reviews until such time as they are really needed and when they are more relevant.

Installation was great, but product is poor.

The installation guy was great and installed everything how I preferred it. The actual product is poor. I've left it a few days so it settled in by the speeds aren't worth it. I've lost my landline so can't use the 14 day cooling off period as I can't have my previous product back. Shame.

Customer service has been terrible this…

Customer service has been terrible this past year. Also never got the email they said I would recieve notifing me of the renewal so they just took the money today anyway - but sent me an email to tell me that they'd done that. Close the company down and that would stop the bad practices.

Automatic renewal is applicable for all customers who purchase an annual multi trip policy, you would have been offered this option at the time of booking by the agent who dealt with your call. If you do wish to opt out you are able to do this via  webchat or our customer service team on 03330144512. if you wish to cancel your policy then please contact the previous number.

As Hughes are often seen down my road…

As Hughes are often seen down my road and nearby in their Hughes van delivering appliances I was hoping they would be doing the same for me. Instead they sub the delivery out to a third party company I've never heard of. They do not disclose this until AFTER you've paid if ordering on line. I got Laurel and Hardy turn up and they managed to drop my washing machine. I have rung Hughes customer service but having me there on the phone they chose not to take the oportunity to even go part way to putting it right. If it was the other way around I think I'd have offered to refund the delivery charge and then gone to L&H and got the same back for Hughes. I think there's a reasonable expectation that the goods you order will be looked after to a minimum standard. Would it put me off ordering again? Yes, I think if there's another option I would consider it. Local buinesses want local support - but so do local customers from local businesses. Hughes, you could do so much better and to start you need to declare what it is people are paying for when it comes to delivery charging - tell us before you take the money who it will be.

I wasn't impressed

I wasn't impressed. The way my washing machine was dropped, not a good start. in order to get it through the door quicker the polystyrene was ripped off leaving lots of bits and balls to blow around outside. "There should be a spanner to undo the securing bolts in the package" - should there? No, and there wasn't. Next time if I want the real Laurel & Hardy.... What's really wrong is the company I purchsed the Washing Machine from, Hughes, they were the ones that chose you of their own freewill to use you, so I blame them and hope they drop you as a choice of delivery company. Its not your fault, you do what you do to the best of your poor ability and Hughes openly seems to accept that. It's okay though, for me there won't be a next time.

No, we won't use your details...

Yet another email. Met a representative at the NEC Classic Car show in 2022. Asked me if I wanted the chance to win whatever it was and that it was free to enter. Free? Alarm bells. I asked if my details were going to be used to send me unsolicited attempts to get me to part with money for other things and was told no, not at all. Why not be honest and say yes in which case I'd have politely declined? If you act dishonestly what do you think people will think in regards to dealing with you? This is how much I don't trust you, offer me £10,000 cash, zero charge for car insurance for the balance of my life and shoot the CEO. My reply to such an offer is no thanks, still never going to be interested. You are untrustable. It's even cost me to write this. Free? You'll never find a more expensive quote than "Free" and don't trust liars as they are only ever after one thing: ££££ Unsubscribe at anytime? Best free time I'd have is when I'm asleep so how would I unsubscribe at that time?

Spread too thin

I've found Toolstation are spreading themselves thin. Yes it's great to have so many choices of branches to visit but it means theres less items available and we have to wait until the next day to pick up the item in branch. Well I might as well have it delivered direct to me but that's only ever any good if I want it the next day either way. Also quantities are spread thin, so much so that to pick up certain goods you'd have to visit three branches. That makes Toolstation one of the most expensive places to buy from.

MOT time again

MOT time again. Mr Clutch Norwich once again looked after me well. If they can help in anyway they always do. My number plate failed as it had a watermark forming over the digits, they ordered me one, it was delivered very quickly, fitted and retested and passed. They are very busy and I had to wait a week to get an MOT booked in. That's a good sign to me when a garage is fully booked with customers cars for a week who trust Mr Clutch the same as I do. Thanks to Sean and the crew for the top job they do.

I have not been able to place an order…

I have not been able to place an order for what I'd like to buy. If they have the decking in one colour they don't have the fencing to match and vice versa. When I've tried to establish when items will be back in stock they lack the ability and or desire to tell me. But they were very quick to send out the samples of the items they can't sell me.

Review of how well they take your money

Slightly overpriced middle of the road does what it says on the tin, but how can you review when I've not claimed? Yes you managed to take my money off me, well done you, but an insurance company only comes into it's own when a claim is made. So why dont you send out review notices to people when they make a claim not when all they've done is hand over their hard earned money?

GREAT service at Norwich branch

I can't fault the guys at the Norwich branch of Mr clutch. Year after year they've given great friendly service and they go the extra mile to help the customer. I've taken my car there for its annual MOT for the past few years and will continue to do so. Well done "Shoe horn" and the gang, you're a credit to the company and an perfect example of what a car repair and MOT centre should be like. (One day I might even fit my headlight bulb correctly the first time!)

I would venture to use Bush Tyres…

I would venture to use Bush Tyres again. Friendly and efficient. Clean and tidy waiting area. If I had to find an area of improvement it would be the disclosure given only after you've paid, "IMPORTANT: Wheel-nuts should be checked with-in 25 miles" well I wouldn't get home before having to turn around and go back to the branch as I live more than 12.5 miles away. Also they don't say what needs checking, that they are still there? That the tightness is correct? Before entering into a contract it might be a good idea, if having the wheels removed, that Bush Tyres asks the customer if they are going to be able to have the wheel nuts "checked" within 25 miles. Apparently, it is IMPORTANT !

Building Society based in HELL

Joined in 2013. Need to make an effort to move. Transferred my account to them, over £10k and new card hadn't turned up after 5weeks. I had no way of getting my own money. Today I've lost my card. I wanted to freeze it but use the app guess what you need? The very card I've lost. Phoned them up and they asked if I knew my sort code and account number, sure its on my card wait a sec - I don't have it! In order to send me a replacement card I needed to answer one final question, could I name one transaction in the past 2 weeks where I've made a transaction using chip and pin. This was easy question for me to answer and I did so accurately and comprehensively with an answer of "No". Having answered they refused to send me a new card. Moving to a bank, had enough. It's been 8 years of off and on hell. I tried. They tied as well, tried to do their utmost to make me wish I was digging my own eyeballs out with a fork.

Don't get scammed by these cowboys

I looked via comparethemeerkat.com to change my energy supplier.
I chose to see the suppliers that they couldn't automatically transfer me to.
The one I was interested in was green. energy and I applied via their website directly.
All seemed fine after I was told I would be a new customer and a date for when the transfer would take place was given.
Then I got an email from green. energy to say they've hiked the price up prior to me joining so tough I'd have to join at the new rate.
Well that kind of defeated the object of why I was moving to them.
When I enter into a contract for a fixed term with a fixed price then that's what I should get.
Alas I'd been scammed. Now to try and leave before my joining date had got here. What a nightmare.
Adding up all the time i've spent on the phone with green. energy, my current supplier and my new alternative supplier and it's quite a few hours.
They call themselves "green" yet the resources used to sort their mess out are a waste of resources - so how "green" is that?
If I'd gone to work instead for the same length of time spent on the phone I would have earnt over £62 for working the same amount of time.
Knock that off your anual bill and you'd be interested. So please, avoid even considering this cowboy company. I swear the guy who answered the phones' name was Roy Rogers. (Maybe it was Woody out of Toy Story.)
Dont get scammed - just use anyone else.

If you have received an email to notify you of a price increase to your tariff, you will have signed up to a variable tariff as we would not increase our rates to any fixed tariff. Variable tariffs are always subject to change if there are any price increases within the energy market, hence the reason we have recently increased our variable tariffs.

I have tried calling you to discuss your review further but as I was not able to speak with you, I have sent a follow up email, explaining our business procedures in more detail.

The on line process was poor

The on line process was poor. When a section was filled in and submitted a new page opened up trying to sell one other aspect, clicked on that, then submit, then another page opens up trying to sell yet another single aspect, then this process just seemed to carry on for ages. If you'd have offered me the universe for free at the end I'd have habitually clicked no. Instead, why not list them all on one page with a little tick/check box next to each one and job done. Adding up the length of time the whole procedure took it was noticeably a lot longer than other companies. The cost of time and inconvenience was off putting. Had I have gone to work and done overtime for as long and added that to the cost of the insurance I'd have not chosen it as it would make it uncompetatively priced. But I'm warned now for next year and I won't renew.

Sooooo frustrating

Sooooo frustrating! Tried to order on line some groceries. Click and Collect and over £25 worth, so no £3 fee. But the £3 fee wouldn't disappear and stayed in the total. Then it added another £1 on for the slot to click and collect.
No problem just phone the helpline and they'll talk me through it. First operator ended up putting me through to someone else after 10 minutes of not being able to help me, the second operator apologised and said I'd been put through to the wrong dept and that she would make sure I got put thrpugh to the right dept. I ended up talking to the very first operator again! She then hung up on me after I'd explained my problem.
I then phoned back again with another request which was to have my account deleted from their system. Though the operator I spoke to couldn't do that himself he did put the request in for me for this to be done. Half an hour of my life I won't get back and annoyingy I reckon I could have driven to Tescos and back in that time. Ah well I've learnt the hard way now all of you reading this can learn the easy way - I made the mistake for you all so it won't cost you a thing to learn not to use ASDA.

You cant share some bad experiences on here…

You cant share bad experiences on here if you back out of a deal because of that bad experience. If you go into a shop and find the staff not very helpful or rude and you decide to go elsewhere you are not allowed to leave a review about that experience unless you place an order and or purchase something from that shop, which obviously you're not going to want to do just so that you can leave a review on Trustpilot. They need to review their own policies and procedures so that they can showcase a more balanced set of reviews rather than suppressing some in order to give an unbalanced and therefore inaccurate representation of how things really are.

The reply below is not true. I was able to prove time and location via Google that I'd been to a store when I said I had and also via dashcam footage. This was rejected and the review removed.

Products unavailable & prices soar once you've bought into the system

I wanted a simple flexible security camera system, this appeared to tick the boxes. I purchased three different types of camera to see how they performed before going the whole hog and buying something that didnt meet my needs. Whilst they appeared to work okay things went bad when I tried to purchase a load more cameras. They were out of stock, they wouldn't have any more until after I was going away and they whack the price up once they think they've hooked you into their system. There is a way you can guarantee not to have a problem with this company - dont buy from them. Time2 look elsewhere.
