Legalized Scamming in Greece
Ordered a package from the USA that costs 55 $ + 30 $ for shipping with DHL. The package arrives in Athens Airport and is held at customs. Here is the scam part: DHL sends me an email that I can either pay them 50 euros to do the customs paperwork for me + whatever the customs office charges in taxes (22 euros) and then deliver the package to me OR I can pay a 72 euro fee to dhl so I can go to the airport customs myself or send a third party professional and do the paperwork and get the package and after that pay the customs taxes on top of that for a total of 92 euros. This is obviously entrapment in a false dilemma. The second option should be free since they aren't offering any service whatsoever and I would be doing the work. Who in their right mind would pay extra to not receive a service and even lose the delivery to my home which I already paid for btw? So I was basically forced to pay dhl an extra 50 euros or else lose my package. No other company in the country does anything like this for obvious reasons. It boggles my mind that they manage to get away with this crime legally in Greece, shame on them! They managed to rob me of 50 euros but they've lost a customer for life. Never using them ever again and I strongly recommend nobody else does either.
