We contacted ViaHoliday directly to book a Groupon deal including flights and a hotel overlooking Barcelona's cathedral. By their own admission, ViaHoliday booked the wrong hotel - one by the same name but in an entirely different town in Spain. They have confirmed there's nothing they can do since the holiday booked was non-refundable. Had the holiday been booked as advertised, there would have been no need to cancel or refund our booking. This cannot be considered a serious or professional company. Beware!

Calamitous, farcical experience
Terrible customer service and no continuity of customer care. Handled terribly throughout the contract with payments and bills mismanaged time and again. Ultimately, after 2 months awaiting a callback about a complaint on my final bill, Spark automatically marked my dispute as resolved and reported me to a debt collection agency. Finally spoke to a manager who shouted over me, purposely misunderstood me and bullied me into a monthly agreement which I accepted finally to end the stress. I asked this man to open a further complaint about his behaviour and, low and behold, never heard any further. Avoid Spark at all costs.

The Spareroom.com experience is brilliant, allowing you to filter your search options depending on the specific requirements you have for your future home. There are also a large number of advertisements thanks to its popularity, making it the 'go-to' place when looking for a house-share. The only criticism I have is that the email alerts (I think) are generated at the point a new ad is created, rather than completed. This means that the alert you are sent of a new property is often lacking information and/or pictures at that stage.
