Review of The LEGO Group
DPD screwed up delivery of my Lego order and insisted I contact Lego about it, despite it being DPD's mistake. I used the web chat on the Lego website and almost immediately got through to a human operator (Madison - thank you!) who was really friendly, helpful and understanding, looked into what happened and quickly arranged to send out a replacement order.
I was fully expecting to spend days sorting DPD's mess out, so thanks Lego for being so awesome!
Review of DPD UK
I had a delivery due on the 24 March which I rearranged for the 28 March before any delivery attempt was made. This arranged redelivery date was shown as confirmed on the tracking page, and I received a confirmation email. When the 28 March rolled around and I went to check the status, I discovered that it was being returned to sender for absolutely no reason.
After calling DPD and speaking to an operator, they unhelpfully informed me that they were returning it to the sender because a failed delivery attempt was made on the 24 March. That wasn't true, since I'd rearranged the delivery before any delivery attempt was made, but even if it had been true and I hadn't specifically rearranged the delivery date that would mean that DPD only attempted to deliver it once and then waited 3 business days before giving up.
Rather than doing anything at all to help rectify their mistake, they told me I needed to contact the sender, who will hopefully make a formal complaint about this absolutely inexcusable poor level of service.

Great, reliable delivery service. I buy stuff semi-regularly that gets delivered by Hived and they're wonderful. I can place the order and *know* which day it'll be delivered on, simply because they're so reliable.
The email and SMS communication is also brilliant, and the real-time tracking means I can be at my door just before they arrive.

Review of Evri
Evri claimed they couldn't deliver my parcel because of a "road incident", which is fair enough if true, but then proceeded to just hang onto my parcel for 7 days without giving me reason or updating the tracking info. After 8 days of waiting, Evri emailed me at 3pm to claim they'd deliver my parcel between 6-7pm, so I rushed home early from work only to end up waiting all evening for another no-show.
Evri's consumer 'support' pages are a joke and seem apparently designed to trap you in a dead-end as quickly as possible with no help or support. A useless scripted chat window very quickly tells you that you're essentially at their mercy and won't be getting any help or support, and there's no way to chat with or speak to a human.
I'm sick of this. In the future, if I find out a company I'd like to buy something from uses Evri, I'm going to email them and complain about their choice of courier, and let them know I won't be ordering from them purely for that reason.

I missed a delivery, so rescheduled the delivery to my work address for a Friday (and confirmed this early in the morning on a Thursday). Friday came along and my parcel didn't even move from the depot. Instead, Yodel attempted to deliver it the next day - a Saturday - when no one was in the office.
When I saw this on Saturday, I scheduled a third delivery attempt for the following Monday and Yodel's website confirmed that was all set up. Monday rolled around and the status suddenly changed to "Customer to collect as requested". Since I hadn't requested that at all, I rescheduled the delivery again, this time for Tuesday. On Tuesday morning, the status changed to just "Customer to collect", despite no third delivery attempt ever being made. Attempting to schedule a redelivery at this point didn't work and gave me an error on the website.
It was around this time that I noticed the customer service web chat was AVAILABLE for the first time ever, so I spoke to someone called Juan who very politely and efficiently talked me through everything and tried to help me get my delivery rescheduled for today.
I checked throughout the day today and, instead of seeing the tracking status change to something useful like "Parcel out for delivery", a new line with the same "Customer to collect" status appeared at about 7am above the previous line with that same status, and nothing happened.
Why won't you make a third attempt to deliver my parcel, Yodel? I can't collect it from your depot...
