Review of Tesco Mobile UK

I recently switched from Three to Tesco…

I recently switched from Three to Tesco Mobile (Sim only for iPhone 13). The difference in signal quality, network reliability, 5G coverage is staggering, especially given it's also cheaper. I regret not joining Tesco Mobile sooner

Listen to the warnings of others about Three

UPDATE: January 2024. Despite promising that my account would be cancelled without charge, and confirming on the phone that I would not be charged. Three charged me a £212 cancellation fee over Christmas. I had to wait a FULL MONTH to be refunded an amount I should not have been billed for in the first place. From network to administration, this is a shamefully poorly run company and I implore others to avoid at all costs.

UPDATE: November 2023. After nearly 18 months of complaints and troubleshooting without resolution. Three finally cancelled my contract and waived the cancellation fee.

Fun fact: here are my local network coverage figures from Three.

"3G - Yes, Very Good Service"
"4G - Yes, EXCELLENT SERVICE"
"5G - Yes, 5G is available"

Well, I'm almost a year into my contract with Three and am yet to experience network performance to rival what I had back in 2010.

Sporadic at best, sluggish, sometimes totally unusable, even in areas advertised as excellent coverage. This is the same wherever I go, be it Manchester, Cambridge, London or Liverpool. It's rubbish - everywhere.

My initial complaint on this resulted in a £5 discount per month and an acknowledgment of "temporary issues" in my area. Well, these issues are still temporary months later. Once again, I think I've been had.

Three may entice you by undercutting prices of competitors, but trust me, there is a reason.

Unfortunately I am trapped in a contract that was, frankly, predicated on false advertising. Don't make the same mistake. Listen to the bad reviews. This is not worth saving a few quid a month vs Vodafone or EE.

There's never a good time to be without signal, so
we can imagine that this would be frustrating, and we're keen to look into this further. Along with our 5G roll out, we’re in the process of updating our whole network to improve our 3G/4G sites and get us ready for the future. You should start to see a better service soon. We'd like to change your experience upside down. Please get in touch with us on https://rb.gy/ogcjyz & we'll do all we can to help - Ankita

Review of Admiral Insurance

NEVER accept the renewal quote..

NEVER accept the renewal quote... like ever.

Admiral have zero interest in keeping existing customers happy. My 2018 renewal price (after getting a good "new customer" price) tried to add £150 onto it (despite no claims, no incidents, same car).

After speaking to their representative, they said the absolute lowest they could go was about £80 more than my current premium. I politely declined.

Lo-and-behold, I go on a price comparison site, and find a BETTER quote than my existing premium... from Admiral. It's the best quote, so I go with it. Job done.

Skip forward a year, and here I am, once again being offered a renewal £180 more than my existing premium. No doubt I'll be given the same excuses.

Admiral are a perfectly adequate insurer - just never accept a renewal quote. Even if your new policy is through them.

Horrendous

Horrendous. Had a new fridge freezer delivered. Delivery team left it in the porch and refused to try and get it up a small flight of steps. They said it was too big despite the fridge being the same size as the one they took downstairs to recycle.

Nowhere in the ordering process was I asked to specify any information they said they needed. So they were quite happy to leave me to sort a 60/40 fridge freezer myself, resulting in hours waiting by a fridge before my landlord could come and help me.

They behaved as if I'd ruined their day even by answering the door and offered no advice beyond "Just buy a smaller one". Genuinely shocked by this.

And don't even bother posting a copy/paste response asking me to email you. That's probably about as much help as your delivery drivers were.

*UPDATE*
My landlord and his son got the fridge upstairs without any issue whatsoever. Took them about 3 minutes to do.

Hi Thomas. I am sorry to hear of the issues regarding the delivery of your fridge freezer. Our delivery crews do reserve the right to cancel deliveries that could endanger their health and safety. So if you require large-item delivery to a room or flat above the first floor of your home or block, our team will only be able to decide if it can do this on arrival. My apologies for any inconvenience. - Carrie.
