Professional service of the best kind

One can be reasonably cautious about ordering carpets online; however, the Designer Carpet's website is superb, easy to navigate and five free samples arrived quickly.

The customer service (via emails and on the phone) was excellent. The ordering and delivery process was straightforward.

We have our carpets fitted by the fitters recommended by the Designer Carpet's customer service team and are delighted with the results.

Highly recommend!

The most horrendous experience

The showroom will lead you to believe that with the upmarket products, you will receive an upmarket service.

What we have is the most horrendous experience.

In November 2024, we ordered two shower glass panels (one of which was a special order) from the Cannock branch. A member of staff was sent to measure the installation site, the order was placed, and we paid the invoice in full.

So far, we have had two deliveries of products that were not fit for purpose: on 20 January, the panels arrived with the wrong fittings for the bespoke panel, and on 9 July, both panels were the wrong sizes.

The experience is beyond frustrating... the staff never calls back, and it's up to us to chase them relentlessly if we want things to move forward. We are told that they are 'very busy' or 'with another customer'.

To add to the stress, as the holes for the shower glass panels were already drilled, we are forced to stay for round three...

Do not order.

- Paid for the order £485.58 - €541 (incl. €144.54 in customs duties)
- Received a refund of £252.71.
- Paid to my credit card £232.87 for the privilege to try on the item.

Italist customer service explanation: "We refunded you the amount of €302.29 (€396.92 for the item minus €27.00 for return shipping costs and €67.63 for duties and courier fees)."

I've ordered from European websites before and always had a full refund, including the customs duties since the item was shipped back to the country of origin.

Their order email stated €144.54 in customs duties; however, they refunded €67.63.

And since when are shipping costs and courier fees different things?

I do not object to paying the return shipping, but the rest is a scam.

However, as stated in our return/refund policy, we pass the cost of returns to our customers, and we always
operate our business in accordance with all international and local laws.

For the return, Italy does not have a separate category for returns and categorizes all items entering the country as an import. This is why your returns are charged a courier/duty fee. A courier fee is also known as an administration fee, typically $30 + duties, if applicable.

We offer free express shipping, but we always charge a return shipping, which for the US is $40. An amount which is a subsidized,as international express shipping can cost close to $150 or more.

International returns are quite expensive. In order for us to keep our prices competitive, we pass those costs to our customers. The majority of retailers take the average return costs and build it into their pricing, which we think is unfair since not everyone will return an item.

Returns are becoming quite a problem among ecommerce retailers, and have proven to have a negative impact on the environment. You will see, many retailers are now trying to limit returns by ensuring the right items are ordered to prevent returns, and by implementing return fees.
