Worst online shopping experience ever.
I bought a phone from simplyeletronics about two years ago. Although the delivery was slow I did get the phone in two weeks. I was happy with this as there was a big saving. So this time around I chose to ignore the recent poor reviews. That was a big mistake. When I placed the order the website said the phone was in stock and would be shipped 2-3 days. 3 days after when it wasn't shipped I called and was told it would be shipped in 4 days, their normal dispatch cycle. I didn't think anything of it and allowed them more time. A week later it still hadn't shipped. I called to cancel the order and was told that the phone is being packed and I must use the web form to log a cancellation request. I didn't get a reply for three days and when I did they assured me that phone was packed and would be dispatched in 48-72 hours and offered a 3-in1 cleaning kit if I decided not to cancel or I could just cancel and a full refund would be issued. I request the full refund. It took another day to actually cancel the order. Every time I requested that the order be cancelled I got a reply that the order was packed and, awaiting pick up by courier. I was told that it would take two weeks to issue a refund. Two weeks on I still don't have a refund, only an apology for the inconvenience. And an assurance that the issue is being followed up with the relevant department. The website still claims that my order is "packed and will be ready to ship within 1-2 days time."
My advice is to ignore the temptation of a big saving. You will most likely only end up having to chase a refund via trading standards and your credit card company as I am having to do now.
