Yescapa sells you a mandatory insurance with the rental, thus avoiding all the paperwork for the people involved. When renting the Van, Yescapa provides you with a very straightforward insurance confirmation - or so it seems. While the tel. number on the document allows you to contact the insurance (in our case, Allianz), there is also the license plate and the insurance number on that confirmation.
Now, we needed the insurance indeed, because I broke my wrist and could not go on driving. The repatriation was included in the mandatory insurance.
However, when we called the insurance, they were unable to find neither the insurance number that was on the confirmation nor the license plate - our insurance seemed to be non-existent.
Contacting Yescapa with regards to this problem turned out to be very difficult. It is impossible to reach them by phone (you only get to a bot who can't help you), and we did not receive any answer to our online messages until we wrote in ALL CAPS and expressed our outrage very clearly. Still, when they finally did reply, they provided us with a new insurance number which - again - the insurance was unable to find. Only after almost a week, hours of phone calls with the insurance and a lot of stress (a friend even went to their adress in Berlin, only to find out that Yescapa was not there anymore), Yescapa finally confirmed to the insurance that we were indeed insured. Afterwards, the coordination for the repatriation was incredibly easy and worked very smoothly.
Already the fact that the data on the insurance confirmation are wrong is outraging. Add in the impossibility of contacting Yescapa, and their inability to solve the problem smoothly (or give any explanation whatsoever), and you have several days of supposedly stress-free vacation lost...
This is unbelievable, and I would not want to know what happened if we had a more serious and urgent accident.
