Saga of the 3 bath mats
I wanted to order 3 more Sandersojn bath mats, two dark grey and one grey-brown. I've reordered these before without any problems and I collected them from my local Coop pick up, less than a mile away. Not so this time.I had to go through the entire order process only to be advised at the very end that I could not collect anywhere apart from Ikea's Warrington store, (110miles round trip) but I could select a different delivery option, which I did, somewhat resentfully: Paid for home delivery. Ok the bathmats were reduced so I thought it was fair enough. But then I was informed that only the dark grey mats were available for home delivery, the grey-brown ones were not. This does not make sense. Is this the 1970s? Is IKEA a state owned monopoly whose union will only deliver one colour at a time whether you want it or not? It certainly is not at all customer focused and to its own detriment. Nor can it be said to be a green company, if it expects its customers to drive a 2 hour round trip to pick up three little bath mats. Who benefits from from this customer alienation? IKEA are perhaps still too comfortable, but in their drive to lower prices they have sacrificed the customer experience, and if this nonsense is what comes with a simple purchase, we will simply vote with our feet and go to retailers who value us.
NB date of attempted order may not be exact as I tried several times last week
