Not the Bank it used to be.

Been with this bank for years, have recommended to many over time, Starling seems to have lost it recently, I've found the process of transferring money intolerable, it's described as 'Faster Payment' !!!!! Diabolical timescale, I tried to buy my grandson a first car, despite plenty of credit in account we nearly lost the car due to Starlings new ish policy, I phoned numerous times, nothing could be done to speed it up, had to leave without it and go back the next day, Starling offered me a £50 credit for the time/hassle which was greatfully received, since then I've had more instances of money not going through until someone decides it's legit, takes far too long (hours).
To add insult to injury I found out recently from my son in law that he receives 4% interest on his Starling Easy Saver, I applied as always have spare cash in account, I was told I didn't meet the criteria, I asked what was the criteria needed and was told they couldn't tell me, that I could put in a complaint but it wouldn't make any difference to the decision, I personally think they have branded anyone over 70 as incompetent and not capable of making a decision, so it's goodbye from me.
Thanks Starling, I've been a loyal customer for years who has never defaulted, or been overdrawn. I'm gone, given my business and current accounts to Monzo.

Currently, we’re subject to constraints which means we have to decline some applications. The decision to decline your Easy Saver may be because of this. We're working really hard to improve the experience.
