Avoid Momentum Warranties – A Complete Waste of Money!

I’ve had to use Momentum Warranties twice, and both times have been an absolute nightmare. No garages wanted to work with them, which meant I had to get personally involved. They wasted so much of my time that I deeply regret ever paying for this so-called "warranty."

The first time, I had an issue with my water pump, which also contaminated the timing belt. Despite providing all the necessary documents, pictures, and quotes, they initially rejected the claim over the phone. Only after I involved the garage that sold me the policy did they finally agree to cover the water pump—BUT they refused to pay for the timing belt, leaving me to cover half the cost myself.

Now, I have a much bigger issue—the starter motor has failed, which is exactly the kind of major repair I got the warranty for. First, they demanded a full diagnostic report, which cost me £180 out of pocket. Since my car wasn’t drivable, I also had to pay for a recovery truck. Then, after I provided everything, they suddenly decided to scrutinize the service history, mileage proof, and even pictures of the vehicle.

After jumping through all their hoops and providing every single detail they asked for, they ultimately REFUSED my claim. Their excuse? My vehicle had a PHV (Private Hire Vehicle) badge. However, when I bought the car, the warranty DID cover PHV vehicles, and Quality Part X (who sold me the policy) even confirmed this! But now, Momentum conveniently refuses to honor the coverage. It’s clear why Quality Part X no longer works with them—they simply don’t provide the service they claim to offer.

To make matters worse, their staff, especially Mr. Mike and Mr. Kris, were extremely disrespectful and even accused me of lying. I had to chase them for updates constantly, and in the end, I was left with a £2,500 repair bill that should have been covered.

DO NOT waste your money on Momentum Warranties. They are nothing but a scam! Never again.

Before they answer that the details hasn't been shared : Platinum plus ( covers PHV)
Policy number : VPX19552118

Response after the reply: the policy was sold with cover on Taxi and PHV. You should contact your dealer instead of calling the costumer a layer or insulting in this way. I have a hand written note on back of the invoice that it cover PHV. Last time coolent was leaking due to water pump it was not the pipe.

Hi Zain,
After investigating the notes on our system, I can see that you first raised a claim in May 2023 due to a coolant leak. Unfortunately, pipes are not covered components under the warranty applied to your vehicle. You then contacted us on the 12th of July 2023 regarding another coolant leak which was due to a leaking water pump. We followed the claims procedure and asked for evidence of the leak to assist further with your claim. As a precaution of the leak continuing, it was advised by your repairer to replace the timing belt, although this was not a failed component.
Your warranty covers for the failed component costs, but it does not cover for parts that have not failed. Once we received the quotation from your repairer, we authorised the payment of the failed parts.
Your next claim was for a faulty starter motor, and we required diagnostic evidence to support the claim, along with a copy of the service history on the vehicle. It is a stipulation of the warranty that the vehicle must be serviced in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
We continued with the normal checks for the warranty claim and we asked you if the vehicle was registered for use as a taxi, in which you advised us that the vehicle is being used as a taxi. At that point, we unfortunately had to advise you that we were unable to assist you any further with your claim due to the warranty you purchased is for personal use not taxi use.
Unfortunately, on this occasion, we are unable to assist you with a valid claim for your starter motor.
Regards, Momentum
