Mum was in supported living and free to come and go as she wished. With a diagnosis of Dementia, there were a number of concerns we had in relation to her walking, not least that she had begun to forget how to re-enter the premises.
After researching a range of GPS providers, we select the TechSilver Waterproof GPS Keyring with the longer battery life. We needed to place the device on mum’s walking stick as the only item she was guaranteed to go out with. Consequently, the opportunities to charge were limited, all whilst ensuring enough reserve capacity for any absence period.
This device did provide us with the reassurance needed. We were able to watch mum go out walking and, unless we felt she needed more assistance, we could make a simple telephone call to ask for her to be helped back in. On one occasion, we had driven to pick her up and could not find her at the location shown on the map, within moments she showed up back at her residence. We thought this to be a device fault until we found out that a passing motorist had picked her up just prior to our arrival and kindly returned her. Of course, we should have paid attention to the increased tracker speed!
