I have stayed in hostels for many years and in fact I stopped in Hartington Xmas 1992 ,which was a amazing experience.
I remember the open fires and the smell of them and the warmth enveloping the building ,unfortunately this wasn’t the case today .Cold rooms and fireplaces no longer used and heating in rooms supplied by a small electric heater .
The charm of the old building has been stripped away for modern conveniences,but I was glad of them if it was warm enough .
I asked about using a external plug to charge my car which I would have been happy to pay for ,but was rebuffed by “I suppose evs are the future ,and don’t steal are electric! “
I fact I book accommodations if they have ev charging options more than not .
