Review of Royal Mail

Damaged letters not their fault.

Royal Mail delivered a damaged letter to my daughter last month. The letter contained my daughters full name, date of birth and address along with a full description of a medical consultation she had had several days previous. It came through our letter box without an envelope or stamp, and the letter had been franked across the top? We called the complaints department and were told they would look into what had happened and they would get back to us within 30 days. Today, 49 days later, I called them and was told our complaint didn't warrant a return call and whoever had told us was wrong. (It's actually on their website). They also informed us that their investigation had shown no one had read the letter (not sure how they worked that one out?) and the sorting office has been spoken to on procedures? My daughter has received no written apology or compensation and I am beyond angry. We have decided to go to the media as we contacted the Information Commissioners Organisation and they told us Royal Mail is not responsible? Unbelievably, the hospital who sent the letter are the ones who shouldn't be sending anything with personal information. You couldn't make this up! I would highly recommend not using Royal Mail as they obviously don't give toss what happens to our mail once its in the Post box. This is a company who are not to be trusted.
