Disgraceful and dishonest

Need to write this to stop companies doing this.
I contacted The Roofing Superstore after being let down by another supplier. I explained to the sales person my issues and urgency for a rooflight to complete a project. The sales person was really helpful and had the item in stock with guaranteed delivery, i was extremely happy with this and paid in full. A confirmation email came confirming my order so I informed our customer we can conclude the project. Within 24 hours of order confirmation I have received a further email saying sorry this item is out of stock and delivery is now end of November! Around 4/5 weeks!. I called immediately and explained my issues again to be told stock is only updated every 24 hours and was now out of stock. I said I would accept a different size if this helps to be told the sales team would take my money again for the item but there is no guarantee it is in stock? To close this I was expecting a call back from their warehouse team to tell me what is in stock so I can pay again then wait to be reimburst for original order. Finally the salesman told me they are the biggest supplier in UK of this item and not to cancel order as no one has any stock! Why are they still taking orders and customers money knowing they cannot supply, why not be honest with your customers!!. Totally disgraceful. Whitehall Building Solutions

Thank you for taking my call earlier this morning. I am really sorry for the problems you have faced. I can see that my colleague has now sourced an alternative item for you which he is going to discuss with you on the phone.

We would never intentionally take orders without stock being available, it appears that this is a case of really unfortunate timing - but more could have been done by us in the first instance when your order was being created. I apologise that this has led to issues further down the line.
