Unfair Charges and Not A Trustworthy Company
Terrible customer service! Was unfairly charged over 100 Euros for minimal pet hair, and was never told about these charges - basically had a shock when I looked at my bank balance!
I contested the charges to be told I would receive a decision within 2 weeks as to whether I would be refunded. It's been well over 2 weeks now, and I have not heard from them.
Basically, these guys never contacted me about the cleaning charges after I have dropped the car of (fully fuelled and pretty damn clean). They just helped themselves to my money because in their book the car was riddled with dog hairs - could not be further from the truth. Then when I rang them to politely explain the situation, they have promised to contact me and yet no contact has been made whatsoever.
Shady and somewhat unethical company. Think very carefully before hiring from them - especially if you have a dog! Some hire centers may be better than others, but my hire centre has been shockingly bad solely as a result of the unexpected charges that I was not given a chance to contest upfront! I feel they look for any opportunity they can get to profit from their customers, regardless of the ethics involved.
^^^UPDATE*** Has been about 7 weeks now since I rang Avis customer service to complain about the unfair charges. Although told someone would get back to me within 3 weeks, I have not heard anything and doubt I will. Second time now they have really messed up. They have no idea how to run a Company.
^^^UPDATE*** Has now been almost 6 months and no word from Avis, even though they promised me they'd get in touch. Really disgusting company - stay clear of.
