Review of Richer Sounds - Reading

Disappointed.

I had done my research, knew what I wanted, and was purchasing a Ruark R1 Mk3 radio. It was to be a surprise Christmas present for my husband, and as the price was the same online and from retailers, I decided to go to Richer Sounds, where I could take it home in preference to having it delivered. Unfortunately, the radio was out of stock, but Kieren, whom I found efficient but somewhat cold and unfriendly, told me I could have it delivered, which I agreed to. He offered me next day delivery for £4.99, which I refused, and said I was happy to wait a few days for free delivery - as it happened it was delivered the next day! What really upset and annoyed me, is that I asked Kieren if the radio would be wrapped, and not identifiable, as obviously I didn't want my husband to see it, and he seemed unsure, but thought it would be wrapped. Why didn't he say "I will ensure that it is wrapped"? As it happened, the courier handed it to me exactly as it had been picked from the shelf - apart from the Ruark box, there was no protective wrapping whatsoever, so thank goodness my husband just happened to be in the garage at that time, or he would have answered the door himself, and seen his surprise present!!! Never, ever, have I had anything delivered without some protective covering. The radio, by the way, is excellent, and I would highly recommend it, but I wasn't impressed by the service I received at Richer Sounds.

Indeed, we always ship items in the manufacturers packaging to both reduce costs, passing the savings on to our customers, and to remain as green as possible.

Of course the sales colleague concerned should have clearly explained that and I can only apologise profusely that he didn't. Please be assured that I will conduct the necessary refresher training with the branch to ensure this isn't repeated in the future.
