Review of RAC Breakdown Cover

New Driver Experience

As a new driver I feel whole heartedly let down by the service provided by the RAC. When purchasing my vehicle I was encouraged to purchase breakdown cover and extended warranty, which makes complete sense, so no expenses were spared. Reluctantly on a work related journey I’d encountered problems with my car, which were later discovered to be an issue with my clutch. That information wasn’t relayed in any constructive way and came across very rude. Being an inexperienced driver with little to not experience with mechanical or electrical car faults, I thought I could have been dealt with, with a little more respect.

I was quoted a 3 hour wait time which was fulfilled within the hour, which was the only saving grace of this service. After my problem was diagnosed my car was deemed fit to drive, though barely driveable and was instructed to wait 3 hours before I made any journey. This required me to drive over 40 miles in a potentially dangerous car home.

Overall I wouldn’t recommended the services offered by the RAC due to their poor handling of the scenario given above. I’ll certainly be reviewing the market upon renewal of my current policy.
