Contracted for a small move for my elderly parents and finalized the list a week prior, but when the movers came they had a different list and wanted more money, then was told the delivery would be on a certain date and two weeks later still no household goods and they are without a mattress and walkers and there is not estimated date of arrival. Terrible experience so far.

Predatory business practices -- avoid this company

After experiencing Swift Shift's services firsthand, I feel compelled to warn others about this company's problematic business practices. What started as an affordable moving solution quickly became a nightmare of hidden fees, poor communication, and accountability issues.

Swift Shift initially provided an extremely competitive estimate that was significantly lower than other companies I contacted. This should have been my first red flag. After paying the required non-refundable deposit to "secure" my moving date, the real problems began.

On moving day, the actual movers (who, I later learned, were from a completely different third-party company) arrived and immediately informed me that the price would be nearly double the original estimate. They cited additional charges for stairs, distance from the truck, packing materials, and various other fees that were never mentioned in the initial quote. With my belongings already loaded and limited options available, I felt forced to pay the inflated price -- how can you back out on moving day? Tenants were moving in two days after my moving day. Swift Shift knows this is typically the case and exploit.

Once the move was underway, getting any information about my shipment became nearly impossible. Phone calls went unreturned and when I did get through, I was hung up on. Promised delivery dates came and went without explanation, and when I did manage to reach someone, they seemed to have no knowledge of my specific situation. The lack of tracking information and constant delays added tremendous stress to an already difficult process.

What Swift Shift fails to make clear upfront is that they operate primarily as a broker, not an actual moving company. This means they're essentially a middleman who contracts your move out to other companies. When problems arise - and they will - Swift Shift points fingers at the third-party movers, while those movers claim they're just following Swift Shift's instructions. This creates a frustrating cycle where no one takes responsibility for the issues.

Swift Shift was unresponsive to my calls and emails about insurance information. Getting documentation and information about where my items were and when they’d arrive was like pulling teeth.

Moving is stressful enough without dealing with misleading, predatory business practices and poor customer service. While Swift Shift's initial estimates might seem attractive, the hidden costs, lack of communication, and accountability issues make them a company I cannot recommend. There are honest, reliable moving companies out there - Swift Shift is not one of them.

Bait and switch

Bait and switch. Had to go to my bank to get my money back. they charged $999 deposit instead of the $1000 they said they took to avoid grand larceny my college says.

Terrible company

Deceptive pricing. They said I had enough space for all of my furniture (and more actually!) but on actual moving day they mis quoted me by 150 square feet and wanted 1500$ additional. The broker wouldn’t talk to me. Pushed me over to the supervisor who was very rude. Would not refund my deposit. Terrible company. Would not recommend to anyone.

Terrible service and fraudulent practices

Right after signing the contract we were funneled off to subcontractors. One in New York and another for delivery in North Carolina. The subcontractors who did the pick up swindled my son out of an additional $363.75 saying more than our 300 cubic feet was used because they couldn't stack boxes on top of furniture. However, when the moving truck arrived in North Carolina, all of the boxes were stacked on furniture in the back of the truck. Second, we paid for packing and unpacking but the guy who delivered was by himself and said he didn't have time to unpack anything. Therefore, we are owed 1/2 of the $300 packing fee.

Swiftshift connected me with a great Moving Company

I was not happy with the beginning of this journey. Swift Shift is not transparent. If you book through swift Shift make sure you clarify your items snd get everything in writing. My movers turned this into a much better experience. My movers were professional, punctual and great packers. I was amazed with the care my items were given. I would definitely use this company again

Scam company practicing in elderly manipulation, and bait and switch tactics. During the sales call we were discussing things in terms of square footage. After the deposit was paid the contract was changed to reflect cubed footage instead. They delayed the move date to ensure that I couldn't cancel without losing my deposit. Predatory tactics and huge scammers. The 'cf' on the contract was in a tiny font that made it hard to read.

Don't Waste Your Time With This…

Don't Waste Your Time With This Company.
Trying to plan a move from Colorado to Georgia and they reached out to me. The pricing was fair enough, and I agreed to a down payment. I was told to cancel within 48 hours if it didn't work. I chatted with my spouse and the dates and money didn't work out for us at the moment. I called the next day to cancel, and even chatted with billing. They said it was cancelled and we would be fully refunded. A week later I get an email from billing about the move and confirming it. I responded and said we cancelled it. I called the salesman we had and he said I didn't do everything I needed to do and now we won't be refunded. The move wasn't planned until March 15th and billing said they already have a contractor to come out and nothing can be refunded. So multiple lies have been told to me from multiple people. I read all the paperwork and we should get 90% back if I failed to cancel within 48 hours. But I did cancel in the 48 hour window, so I should get the whole amount back. They refuse to refund anything. This is a predator company and takes advantage of people if you don't jump through their hoops after you did everything right, they add more things that should've been done. This is unacceptable and very disappointing. Save your time and money and find a different company. We're a military family and could've used and spread the word if the company was legitimate. Do better.
